U2 Achtung Baby 'super deluxe' reissue - on naughty download, be buggered if I'm paying Nobo $150 for that...

Completely justified!!!

....but I must say the vinyl edition looks a treat....tempting!! :?

Agreed but I'll settle for my original copy on vinyl - the new one hasn't even been remastered, which I can understand because the production is spot on to begin with IMO, but why charge so much for it?? I know a lot of people despise U2 which I totally understand but that album is close to perfection for me - In Q Magazine's latest edition they've put out a CD of the whole album done by different artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Garbage, Jack White, Gavin Friday and Glasvegas. Patti Smith's version of Until the End of the World is stunning!

Perhaps. Their last three albums have been "solid" but not remarkable, and Train of Thought prior to that is a great album but hasn't aged well with me. Really enjoying this new album and hopefully it keeps its appeal for a while.

Hope you are correct mate. Haven't purchased it yet, but everything I've read points to a great album even without Portnoy.

First time I heard Achtung Baby, the day it was released, was completely mystified by it, but started the disc again to listen again. Was completely hooked from that moment. I know many hail "The Joshua Tree" as their masterpiece, but this one tops them all, IMHO, and while I stopped buying their albums after "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", this one stands repeated listens still. "Zoo Station" is one of fhe best opening tracks to an album I can think of.

Went to the midnight release and listened to it all night, just amazed by what I was hearing. All memories of Angel of Harlem obliterated - thankfully! I recall at the time Grant McLennan of the Go Betweens admitting that despite his prejudices it was a masterpiece, which, considering U2 have always been slammed by the critics, was enough for me

Remember it well....1991 (Year 12).....sitting in my bedroom listening to it intently.

I did not get it at all. There was much discussion at school with a few mates about it. I did not like it.

After a few more listens......it was understood by me. It paved the way (sound wise) for music from that moment. ;)

Back to topic ...sorry
