I struggle to come to grips with music lovers who do not like Led Zeppelin, always puzzles me.Surely they have something for every one, from ballads to rock and everything in between.Even my Mum,now 63,who tolerated them whilst my brother and myself grew up now turns them up when ever she hears them on the radio.

Pearl Jam - Ten.
Led Zeppelin-IV
AC/DC-Back in black

London Calling is one of the first songs I learnt to play, because of that weird intro with the slide up the neck of the bass, still play it to "warm up",but over all the album is a little bit behind that track as far as quality goes.

REM? zzzzzz zzzzzz zzzzzzz

Not really sure what to make of it yet...

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ God knows the remaining Beatles and their widows don't have enough. Call me cynical, but especially considering the time of the year.

Mind you I shouldn't criticise cynical marketing exercises too much. I believe Santa might be bringing me The Clash Singles boxed set (featuring all the Clash's singles on CD in "original" sleeves with a comprehensive booklet all together in a full colour box!!!) which has been released just in time for christmas.

Had a mate when I was in my teens that played them endlessly. My mates and I were discovering all this new music at the time (punk & new wave) and play all sorts of different bands whenever we'd hang out at various mate's places. However whenever we 'd hang out at this guy's place he'd play nothing but "Zep". After a while we stopped going there. Also I must be the only person in the world that finds Robert Plant's vocals reallly annoying.

No doubt Bon would have been the pick to do vocals on Back in Black, but some riffs on that album just rock!

Especially the riff for the title track -killer.

Possibly the best 'comeback' album ever?

Brian Johnson's vocals are fine on this album, but he sounds pretty awful live.
Apparently Bon was impressed when seeing him sing with his previous band ('Geordie').
Good enough for the rest of the band it seems.

London bloody Calling. I bought that album based on the universal acclaim that is has received over the decades and due to the fact that I liked 'London Calling' and 'Guns of Brixton' but much of it is complete and utter shite. THE most overrated album of all time for mine, but REM's 'Automatic for the People' gives it a good run there.

Sorry Diss!

The most overrated album of all time????....mmmm......interesting.
Mind you I loath Led Zeppelin so I think we have slightly different taste in music.

The full list is interesting to say the least. Just a couple of points
Missy Higgins at #30 and Anthony Callea at #32  .
No Rolling Stones LP until #95 and no Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys

I own one of the albums in the Top 10. I feel so dirty and mainstream :P

Probably only 2 surprises in that list for me, RHCP and Jeff Buckley. The chart probably reflects a JJJ-sensitive audience, which I'm not unhappy about. If this show was on commercial TV hosted by Dick Wilkins and Catriona Rowntree I reckon the results would have been vastly different. I noticed Whispering Jack was WAAYY down the list. On Channel 9 it would be in the top 5 at least.

Pet Sounds not in the top 20 (at least) is wrong.

1. Pink Floyd — Dark Side of the Moon
2. Jeff Buckley — Grace
3. Radiohead — OK Computer
4. The Beatles — Abbey Road
5. The Beatles — Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

6. Nirvana — Nevermind
7. Led Zeppelin — Four
8. Red Hot Chili Peppers — Blood Sugar Sex Majik
9. Meat Loaf — Bat Out of Hell
10. U2 — Joshua Tree

Albums I own in bold.

Some good songs on Ok Computer but not *my* cup o' joe.
Nirvana have always irritated me. The best thing that Nirvana did was give Dave Grohl a platform.
Meatloaf - no comment.
U2 I have never got in to at all. Nice songs here and there, but overall, not for me.

Was happy with "Ten" at number 19.

Jeff Buckley's voice still gives me chills, and whilst Dicko did have a point that the covers were *probably* the strongest and tightest songs on the album, I still do beleive in his song writing.

In a weird way, I think that bands "still going" shoudn't be included. But of course, I do think they should.

No kidding. Yet there was still plenty of populist dreck in the upper positions.

I actually own Grace, but I've never really liked it. I'm listening to it now to see if I can hear what everyone else finds appealing about it.

But really folks, how can anyone take the list seriously when The Human League's Dare didn't make it? 8)

I was surprised Doolittle did that well even though as you say it was JJJ-sensitive audience. Personally not a huge fan of The Beach Boys but Pet Sounds would probably be the most underated LP in history (certainly when it comes to public opinion polls).
Speaking of The Pixies looks like they are definitely playing Melbourne next year 8) . To say I can't wait would be the understatment of the century.

Wasn't even in the Top 100 which I find amazing.
The top 10 is weird for me in that I like quite a few of the bands but they are far from my favourite albums from that band.
ie:
U2 - Unforgettable Fire, Boy & Achtung Baby
Radiohead - The Bends
Beatles - Revolver, White Album, Rubber Soul
RCHP - Californication
Pink Floyd - The Wall, Wish You Were Here

It is an aquired taste, Buckley.
I don't think there's many people who hate it - you either love it, or don't get it (or the people who love it).

I have it on now too. Lilac Wine is on in the lounge - beautiful.
I don't drink a lot of wine, but I love a glass of red listening to this.

I was actually thinking that they should have some sort of restriction on a time frame. For example if an album was in the charts in the last 12 months it shouldn't be counted. Seriously do this poll in 10 years and neither of those two LPs will be anywhere to be seen (along with Wolfmother when it comes to that).

Was it just me or was "Dicko" the best thing on that show. I didn't always agree with his taste but I thought his views were well thought out and explained very well. Like him or loathe him he knows his stuff.
