And why have American stars at the ARIAs? Johnny Knoxville is funny but he didn't need to be there. Jesse McCartney?? Wouldn't have a new album out would he?

I think he has, but not sure, don't like him.

Anyway, I had to laugh when Borenard Fanning won best album (yawn) - he made an impassioned plea to all the young rockers in the house to get inspired by the socio-political passion of the Oils and write some rocking protest tunes that raise us out of our collective apathy, to rise up against 'the man' or something like that.

This coming from a man whose biggest hit consists almost entirely of "I just wanna wish you well, I just wanna wish you well..."

Human Nature's shlock performance was simultaneously one of the most hilarious and depressing things I've seen on Australian TV. Hilarious because their dance moves looked like they were borrowed from 'Hooray for Everything' and the fact that, well, they really don't sing very well. Depressing because millions are shelling out for this lazy and cynical honky approximation of soul - allowing them to do a Rod Stewart and cash in with a Motown Vol II. Useless f***wits.

Game, set and match. Thank you linesmen. Thank you ball boys.

There were some photos in the paper this morning from the ARIAs and I noticed one of Stephanie McIntosh. What was she doing at a Music Awards ceremony? Waiting the tables, or serving the drinks?

I am also a huge Powderfinger fan, and I really enjoy Fanning's solo effort Tea & Sympathy. It is obviously very different musically from what he does with Powderfinger, but if it wasn't then what would be the point of releasing a solo album? I can also see how people mightn't like it though - it is very blues & rootsy - almost folk-like music.

Folk-lite more like it!

As for Stephanie McIntosh, at least she sings (allegedly). How about that silicone slapper Krystal being there? I'd like to see her interviewed on the red carpet:

Dick Wilkins: "And who are you wearing Krystal?"
Krystal: "Clark Rubber".
"A no vote from any club means there is some sort of risk involved in our entry into the competition not working," Steven Trigg.

Sorry, I know a couple of people mentioned liking Silverchair doing "Don't Wanna Be The One", but I was really disappointed with it. Love Midnight Oil, one of my all time favorites and was lucky enough to see their final Adelaide show at the old Heaven (one of the most cramped venues to watch music, but that's another thread for another day  ). When I heard they were being inducted into the Hall Of Fame (about time!!!) and then Silverchair were doing the trbute, was looking forward to it.

Maybe they haven't aged too well, maybe I was expecting far too much given who they were covering or maybe it was bad sound in some ways too, but thought the performance was below par. Saw Daniel Johns holding the trumpet backstage and hoped they might be doing something like "Power And The Passion", or otherwise, a more rocky one like "Hercules" or "Sometimes".

Ah well...I suppose it could have been worse, like Lee Kernaghan doing "Wedding Cake Island" or something.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...
