Crap thread, it's just lists of what people hate according to their own preferences.
Musical opinion is incredibly subjective -try finding a definitive way to rate songs.

A lot of the songs listed are detested by some because they're mainstream (oh what a crime) and/or have been massively overplayed by radio and become overly familiar.

A very valid point you have there but opinions are like a*seholes everyone has got one. This thread was put up for people's opinions on what songs they feel are over rated I feel if you don't have to like or agree with what people write but this is all in fun.

Kings of Leon.

when sex on fire first came out, i liked it. but it (to me at least) is by far the most thrashed song on commercial radio i've ever heard.

adelaide commercial radio is single handedly to blame for me hating anything by Kings of Leon.

Couldn't agree more.

Except for the fact that i didn't really like them to start with. Now i can't stand the band at all.

I don't reckon songs like Stairway or Rhapsody or Money are overrated, they are simply overplayed. These songs have been around for nearly 40 years and have been utterly thrashed. It's easy to see how they would lose their impact.

For me the most overrated song has nowhere near the mileage 'on the turntable' and that's Whitney Houston's I will always love you. Utterly 5hite. I also reckon Blister in the Sun is a complete crock but plenty of people love that song.

He's my list (feel free to shoot me down) ;)

American Pie - like fingernails going down a blackboard!!! Long, boring and dull......THIS SONG WAS BANNED AT MY WEDDING!!!

Light my fire - The Doors to me are one of the most overated bands in the history of music. I enjoyed the movie though...but man, they bore me!!

Everybody hurts - please dont leave me scissors or razor blades around the place. This is such an overated REM song.....and a downer.

There is a few anyway for a start....... ;)

Full marks for these nominations. American Pie just goes on and on and on..........oh, and the Doors and REM suck a55.

This thread cracked me up!

Add to the list anything by INXS, Cold Chisel, Queen and The Police - all of these bands have been done to death on commercial radio.

Also whatever Pink's latest song is, I don't know the name but on a safe bet it's got something to do with drinking, parties, violence or a combination of the three.

Are these over-rated or over-played? I think there is a difference

Anything by Coldplay... only becuase I cant stand them.

Just like I think AC/DC is overplayed - again, because I don't like them.

Seems that everytime I get into the car a bloody ACDC song is on the radio.

No wonder other states think we're feral  ;)

=D> =D> =D> Amazing to watch a band that can, essentially, release the same song at different speeds multiple times and get hailed as writing "timeless classics. Awful.

Na, not quite as bad, but pretty shite too.
One Crowded Hour was up there too.

The song that came number two this year was also shite.

What about Tubthumping by Chumbawumba. Now there's an overrated song!
