One of the more embarrassing moments in GF history ...

Thats right .. Between Swanny, Ricky May and Balmy and Timmy's miscreant behaviour ;) it's hard to know which is the worst

just played the Daniel Johns grab for the JJJ hottest 100 said he is embarrassed by that song now. As he said he was just a 14 year old kid when he wrote that and heavily into Nirvana and the grunge scene. Certainly not the Silverchair scene these days either

A very turbid and dark period for all of them, which is reflected in the songs. A young Frusciante spiralled out of control and ended up in a long rehab and was replaced in the band by Navarro, which really changed the dynamic of the band. They've always been a bit 'off this planet', but for that period they went even further and I reckon Keidis and Flea aren't particularly nostalgic about it

REM loathe the song. Michael Stipe has often said he wishes they had never written it. It was written almost as a joke and they never imagined it would be popular. I stand corrected, but believe they have never played it in concert.

Not at all
Eddie loves how the song has changed, evolved over time, and how it means so much more to different people.

in 2001 or 2002 they were on tour in aus and they did not want to sing it as one of there close band friends or maybe even a relative had just died just before the tour.

I bet Art Garfunkel wont be joining Paul Simon in a rendition of 'You Can Call Me Al' anything soon........
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
