Could not agree more all these comercial stations play it over and over again every bloody day they kill all these great bands. Stick to the J's for all the quality music after all they are the ones who unleash all these bands.

Oh now THAT is crap. Utter Crap.

Triple J is one of the number one offenders when it comes to playing the same songs over and over again.

How many times have I heard that freaking hip-hop tune about "The Festival Song" by Pez or "The Windmills of Your Mind" on JJJ lately?

Every day! Just plug and plug the same stuff until it gets popular and hits the conventional radio stations.

So many JJJ listeners are all the same, love the music until it becomes popular, then shun it because other people like it and they're not "unique" any more.

Then they get on the high and mighty bandwagon that they "discovered the talent".

Who cares? Just listen to the music. Some JJJ music is absolute crap and the station disowns it as fast as they tried to promote it.

Very hit and miss station.

At least the J's play songs that you haven't heard any where else before.
Sure they might play some stuff repeatedly but it's also songs that people want to hear. If you listen to requestfest with rosie people are still requesting pez!

Find another station in adelaide that is current and up to date if you don't enjoy JJJ!

You're right with the hit and miss SS. During the day 1 in 5 songs is decent. I still prefer the Js over commercial radio though. There's only so much Pink and Fallout Boy I can take in 1 day.

I'm not saying I hate it all together, I like the "windmills of your mind" song.

If Pez's release of that song is not a commercial decision, coming right into Summer ... oh come on, it blatantly is.

The high and mighty attitude by Ballhog is exactly what I was referring to, blaming commercial radio stations from playing popular songs.

Your point above supports my argument, "Sure they might play some stuff repeatedly but it's also songs that people want to hear."

All these big radio stations have a certain playlist to work from and certain songs are often repeated throughout the day, however, I reckon JJJ works with a larger playlist. For example, while they may play 'Sex On Fire' they'll also play a heap of their other songs too, while the commercial stations tend to flog the one single.

Here's how the Kings of Leon songs rank inside the top 2000 songs aired on the J's:

22 Fans
24 On Call
373 Sex On Fire
554 Black Thumbnail
923 Crawl
1067 Charmer
1090 Use Somebody
1227 Closer
1357 McFearless
1488 King Of The Rodeo
1491 The Bucket
1780 Taper Jean Girl
1801 Ragoo
1864 Molly's Chambers
1975 Knocked Up

And as for JJJ in general, the Top 20 Airings for each week is constantly changing. Notice that for last week only nine of the songs were in the top twenty for the previous week.

# LW Song / Artist Airings
1 41 That Beep (Architecture In Helsinki) 18
2 20 Where The River Rises (The Panda Band) 17
3 14 Sweet Disposition (The Temper Trap) 14
4 56 Addicted (Behind Crimson Eyes) 14
5 1 Rainbow Kraut (The John Steel Singers) 13
6 8 Everyone's At It (Lily Allen) 11
7 369 Bismarck (Lost Valentinos) 10
8 25 Hi Friend (Featuring MC F... (Deadmau5) 10
9 13 Don't Worry About Nothin'... (Muph & Plutonic) 10
10 27 Falling (Drapht) 10
11 77 Case Closed (Jack Ladder) 9
12 7 Half Mast (Empire Of The Sun) 9
13 19 Fortune And Fame (Downsyde) 9
14 6 Your Call (Featuring Urth... (Hermitude) 9
15 59 Wild Eyed Boy (Birds Of Tokyo) 9
16 2 Skeleton Dance (Children Collide) 9
17 45 All Alone (Jackson Jackson) 9
18 NEW Delta Bay (Empire Of The Sun) 9
19 17 Turbo Love (Bag Raiders) 8
20 NEW The World (Empire Of The Sun) 8

Not having a go at ya SS, I just reckon the J's are not even close to commercial radio when it comes to repetition.

If that's what people want to listen to there's nothing wrong with that.

How's that song go...

"If everybody looked the same, we'd get tired of looking at each other"

Can apply that adage here with musical tastes.

Ballhog is offended Quichey because he is one of those people who I was referring to.

He blames commercial radio stations for playing songs that @ the end of the day, a majority want to hear.

I hate Pink, I get sick of hearing Fall Out Boy, but I would rather listen to that then "Sandwiches" by Detroit Grand Pubahs or Greenskeepers "Lotion".

I think it's funny when the singer gets right into it and it sounds like he's spitting everywhere when he says the word "sex"

Kings of Leon are huge in London. Their concert coming up at O2 sold out quicker than the Led Zepplin one last year.

They just announced another tour next year, tickets went on sale yesterday and the first concert sold out in 10 minutes so they've announced another two.

I've seen them a couple of times now at festivals and they are fantastic.

If you listen to their first album it is quite different from their last two.

Tickets go on pre sale for memorial drive today at 1.30pm. The thing is you have to be a frontier touring member to snaffle these tickets.
