LOL Yeah that was the one mate ... Think a young Andre Agassi (back when he had long hair) crossed with Jenna Jamesons plastic-fantastic's and it's about spot on ... Still freakin cracks me up til this day!!

Had some mates who share similar music tastes (Metallica, Gunners, Foo's etc) surprisingly tell me they reckon Democracy is pretty bloody good ... Will have to try and umm, procure a copy tonight somehow :D

Just listened to Chinese Democracy for the first time ever two days ago.
I was shocked.
This has no connection whatsoever to the awesome Appetite for Destruction.
Weirdly enough, the album has grown on me rapidly, I actually find myself liking it, but with the following caveat-
I shall forever consider this an Axl Rose side project/new band.
The album sounds like Axl has collaborated with such artists as Trent Reznor, Faith No More (to name a few).
A Guns n' Roses album however, it isn't.

Lucky guess on my part then.
Brian May laid down some material that wasn't used.
What's Bucketheads solo material like?

Which one of his 40 albums should I start with?

Moonraker, an on again/off again side project of Mike Patton & Buckethead:

REB

REB FYI Izzy wrote the majority of Gunners songs. The guy single handedly wrote Appetite whilst the rest of the band was wasted. Slash came up with the solo's but Izzy was primarily responsible for all the riffs and songwriting. I too would pay a lot of money to see the original band play live again.
I must also rake REB over the coals for this statement. Izzy Stradlin is responsible for building the beast that Appetite was, with all other members filling the holes perfectly.
One of the (few) tracks I like off of UYI's, is Dust n Bones- a Stradlin track.
Another point made by a band member, was Steven Adler's contribution (when not dancing with Mr Brownstone)- Matt Sorum didn't have the ability to pull a song together like Steve.

Izzy does not get the credit he deserves.

As soon as Matt Sorum and Dizzy (keyboard player) came in Axl took over adding orchestra's and complex arrangements. It has been said by many (Slash other ex members) that he wanted to be the next Elton John and like the band Queen.

Read Slash's and Duff's Autobio and you will see how it became Axl's new Beast!!!

Watched a YouTube vid where bucket head is break dancing and swinging nunchuks!
He then breaks into a guitar solo- is his own work just guitars + backing band?
I imagine it to be just guitars and nothing else.

From what I've seen it's generally part of his act -he's a big Michael Jackson fan.
I reckon Cricket Australia should bring him out for the BBL (assuming KFC are still sponsor) :)

Righto bud, I may well be a bit influenced by my generation but:

Civil War, Live And Let Die, Don't Cry, November Rain, Yesterdays, Knockin On Heaven's Door, Get In The Ring, Shotgun Blues, So Fine, You Could Be Mine
Mine, Dont Cry x 2 ... Not APFD quality, but a pretty decent follow-up for die-hard fans.

Civil War gets a pass mark, as does You Could Be Mine (possibly the only dong that wouldn't be out of place on Appetite, especially with Adler on drums), November Rain, if only for that solo...
Dust n Bones is more than ok, but as for the rest- was Live and Let Die/knocking on heavens door necessary?
Get in the Ring was nearly as self indulgent as My World!
Some good songs (and enjoying it more now than back then), but overall, C-
(although that grade improves when factoring in Chinese Democracy into the grading curve)

Very well summed up Punk Rooster.

Its quite known that Slash and other band members wanted UYI to be a one album record but Mr. Rose wanted the double albums. Slash thought it was asking the kids too much to buy the 2 albums and also felt the quality suffered as he beleived it would have made one "kick azz" record.

His bio is a real good read to understand what was happening at the time.

I think UYI are OK.....production suffers alot on it IMO.
