Was so good to hear Hard Act to Follow, Lost Control, Chemical Heart, Champion and especially Just Ace live again. Same with Bow River, Flame Trees, When the War is Over and Forever Now from Chisel.

Had the absolute buzz of looking next to me during Chisels set to see Joe Hansen ( Grinspoon bassist ) standing next to me!
Took the obligatory "rock star selfie" and had a good chat with him, he introduced himself, rated ( with two thumbs ) my retro Grinspoon shirt and then gave me a bro shake and hug when I told him we ( Mrs and I ) were really there for the Grinners, just happened that Chisel "come on after you guys"![]()
Cracking bloke. Chatted for about 15 minutes, what he's been doing during the Grinspoon hiatus, how many times I've seen them and their plans for touring into the future. Had a little bit of a moment to be honest. I'm an average bass player who loves the Grinners and Joe's "balls on the floor" bassist stance. I'm still buzzing a bit. When he left he asked my name again, said he'll keep an eye out for me when they get back to Adelaide.
Told him we better not be waiting too long!
PS - Chisel were excellent and Mossy can seriously play!

Guide to Better Living, Easy and the Pushing Buttons EP were essential listening for me in my younger days.

I got this impression of the whole band when I saw them back in 2010. Great show, classic line-up and all the great songs, but I couldn't help but think these guys were performing on auto-pilot, and just doing a different version of a 9-5 office job. Clock on, rock out, clock off, next city. The next gig would've been identical. I guess that's what stadium/arena rock is, though, and they still made it entertaining, I was left a bit cold. It's a long way from playing sweaty pubs in the late 70s when they would've been at their absolute best IMHO.
Interesting that the stage faced the south this time, I guess that was done at least to keep the noise (and complaints) down for the North Adelaide residents.

I'd say for crowd capacity, not to do with the North Adelaide sulking society, by using the bulk of the Western and Eastern stands, the Oval and much of the Riverbank Stand too.

Would have to face that way to best utilise the corporate suites wouldn't it?
