Just got an email from Mrs. Pseudo to tell me that I had a package from the UK arrive in the mail.

It can only be one thing:

The first full-length release from The The in over ten years.

In the intervening years Matt Johnson has released exactly one song. In that time he has also apparently recorded an entire album - and shelved it 'coz he wasn't happy with it. Not the first time he's done that either. It's been a long, long time between drinks.

To say I am excited would be a severe understatement. On my way home tonight I shall procure a hyperexpensive bottle of vintage port. The kids will be sent to bed, and the missus shall be dispatched to the bedroom with a book ("not tonight dear, I've got a The The album to listen to"). The lights will be dimmed, the port opened, and the stereo fired up. Then, for little over an hour, I shall attain a state closer to perfect bliss than can be achieved by any other activity on this mortal plane.

British India - Avalanche

Geez I love these lads. This is a damn solid album of ten powerful indie-rock tracks. They haven't really wavered from the formula that made us take notice in the first place, in fact, it seems to be getting stronger and IMO they are now one of Australia's premier bands. See them live, you won't regret it.
