After all the great comments on here, we all loved the show(s), is James Hetfield the most relaxed and "himself" front man you have ever seen? You can see how genuine all his remarks are and for mine, the best front man I have ever seen and is just about at the peak of his game. Musically and with his crowd interaction.

In 1998, the only other time I have seen them. I honestly can't remember any interaction with the crowd. I also can't really remember singing along to their songs. I wanted too, but no one else around me was and assumed that Metallica fans aren't really the sing along type.

The other bit I loved was he said Adelaide numerous times, it never felt like he said it for a cheap pop.
Yet, Nickelback last year I thought he said Adelaide to get the crowd involved. The Nickelback crowd were pathetic!!!

I reckon there had to be an element of cheap pop to his use of "Adelaide", but there's nothing bad about that, they all do it and at least it came across as natural(ish).

You're spot on Booney, there wasn't even a slight trace of "going through the motions" from Hetfield, nor any of the other members for that matter .. Many times I thought "Geez I wonder how these blokes come out in front of 10,000 or so in little old Adelaide instead of 70k at Wembley (for eg)" but they either genuinely got into performing regardless, or covered it up very well.

Just an incredible band .. So often in the field of entertainment, expectation levels result in disappointment .. Well I expected PLENTY from these blokes, and what they delivered surpassed my expectation.

In my eyes, they are simply the kings of what they do.
