Worst concert/gig you ever saw????

Postby southee » Sat Feb 07, 2009 4:35 pm

For me, Lenny Kravitz in about 1993/94 at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Played about 10 songs, one song went for 20 minutes with a boring guitar solo. Lenny stopped in the middle of a song to announce to the crowd that "Wait, wait, stop *laughs*......man, I'm soooo f**kin' high".

The guy could hardly stand on his two feet....

It cost alot and most people felt ripped off.

Any others one would like to mention??? :D
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

I don't bother going to concerts cos I think they are a rip off. I prefer the studio versions of songs myself. Plus, if you get ripped off (as you've said above) you have zero come back.

I remember being really disappointed with the Stone Roses at the Thebby. Their time had been and gone.

U2 at Football Park, both times - not their fault as much as the venue/acoustics/dumbasses.

Not big names as such, but Ross Hannaford (ex-Daddy Cool) "And Friends" at the Fringe around 1998 at the Gov. First bad sign was they both looked like they had potentially slept in their car that afternoon with crumpled clothes and untied shoes. Second was they sat down at a table (on stage) and uncorked a bottle of red. The first of many throughout the show. The "songs" became more rambling and without any form of structure as the show wore on (think the sort of bloke that regales you with supposedly hilarious tales at a bar for hours on end, that you "had to be there" to appreciate). First gig I've walked out of.

Dylan for me, my old man dragged me along, never again.
Didn't enjoy another concert he dragged me along to too in Jackson Brown but the guy was OK, just not music I enjoy.
Can't complain though as my dad also dragged me along to Springsteen in Melbourne and Neil Young at Apollo and I became fans of both after those gigs.
Dad has a hit rate of 50% with me.

I'm guessing that was The 'Beach Boys' (with John Stamos!) rather than THE Beach Boys.

REM at the Ent Cent on the Monster Tour were pretty awful. Seen them a few times since though and they were great.

saw the Motels at a Marine base in Hawaii in 1984 and Martha Davis was off her face big time
musically the band were good but Martha was just awful

the best entertainment was in the crowd with all the Marines belting the crap out of each other

So true Zipzap, thought the U2 gig on the Zoo tour 1993 was pretty goof but the last one they did recently was shocking....the people, the venue, the sound....awful!! The first gig on the Zoo tour had 30,000 people the last one was 60,000 and they did not react to anything. The crowd sat in their seats all night...it was a total bore.

Saw THE CURE in about 1998 think it was the Blood Flowers tour (something like that) and i nearly fell asleep...god that was boring. :-q

A friend bought me a ticket to ZZ Top at Memorial Drive in the late 80's. Extremely boring.

Kings of Leon at Falls Festival last year. Was the worst two hours of music I've ever heard and to make it worse was that they played their set for the NYE countdown. Never, ever, ever, EVER should this lifeless band be programmed to do a NYE countdown. Shocking set.

LOL, I know what you mean Snags, re. local bands. Have seen Leather Messiah a couple of times before and they're so bad that it's good  Same principle applies to my mate's band Fiendish Cavendish. And Kamikaze, so cheesy, but entertaining.
