Yup. FAF.

There was a whole lounge scene going on in the 90s - ripping off 'alternative music'.
In its way it started off with Weird Al.
Then I think people saw that Tom Jones/Tony Bennett had a bit of cultural cache and were interested in some of the modern music - Jones particularly (think Prince's Kiss).
Richard Cheese and in Australia Frank Bennett did a bit of this sort of work that took the pi*s, as well as paid homage.
