At the risk of being ridiculed, I will go into bat for the inclusion of Cooleyhighharmony by Boyz to Men being included in a list like this.
I realise they aren't every one's cup of tea but unfortunately they are only remembered for a couple of soppy love songs (from their album after this) from the mid '90's and not for the vocal talent that they do posess.
This album influenced the American R&B scene and you can hear their talent in songs like "It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday", which appeared in the movie Lethal Weapon 3, "End of the Road", which was one of the biggest singles in American music history and "in the still of the nite".

One very good reason for it to be shitcanned in any sensible list of seminal recordings. If there is a worse genre in music than American R&B I haven't heard it.

Well some people (not necessarily yourself) think that any music song by a black artist is R&B, which of course it isn't.

I'm not a fan of Boyz to Men at all. And in general not a fan of modern R&B. But I do have to agree with ORDB here.
The group had a huge influence on modern R&B.

In reality R&B is a borad term which was created to apply to all 'black' pop music back in the early stages of charts music.
It was an easy way to seperate music that was safe for the consumption of young white kids and what wasn't.

I always understood that R&B meant rhythm and blues. Alas today's R&B contains neither.

The name R&B is derived from that, but it was used in the way I mentioned above to put all black music in one genre.

I think I read this fact in a biog of Little Richard.

Leaper, I too used to think it meant rhythm and blues and thought it strange that the music didn't represent that at all. Now I know why.

Against all of friends dismay i do enjoy some original hip hop.
Outkast are really talented, sucks they just get flogged on radio. Speakerboxx/love Below is a classic album.
Absolutly abhore "Gangsta Rap" but i do like some Ice Cube. Great voice and from the old school of rap. Looked up his work from hearing "Children of the Korn" Korn feat. Ice Cube of Follow the Leader.

Korns Follow th leader started the whole numteal scene as well as significant other - Limp Bizkit.

I hate the crap that followed these 2 albums. But im tellin ya Follow the leader is an awesome album. Try "Justin" "Pretty" BBK" awesome sound. Korn startin gettin rich and went to shite. Limp Bizkit. Well they were always gonna sell out. But 3 dollar bill ya'll and significant other are still highly respected albums

Agree with the rest though.

We're all different here but I find Rush boring beyond belief...

Have to say I am with you on this one (sorry 66). I first got introduced to Rush by way of a half hour special on Nightmoves in 79 or 80 and thought they were very average.
