Fiona Horne has launched a campaign to reform Def FX for a 15 year anniversary tour.
Since the band’s breakup in 1997 Horne has released a series of books about modern witchcraft, appeared as a contestant on Celebrity Survivor, posed for Australian Playboy and trained as a pilot. She also released a solo record Witch Web in 2007 and a spoken word album Magickal Life-Guided Meditations and Spells for Positive Change last year.
Earlier this week Horne announced on her Facebook page that “a Def FX reunion tour is starting to look real… Australia September 2012…. Look out!” This message was followed by further updates including a note that revealed that Horne had spent two hours on the phone with Marty Basha, Def FX’s original bass player, speaking to him for the first time in 15 years. According to Horne “he is as sweet as ever! We’re super excited and wanna play for you again.” Another post reveals that “In these early stages it looks like it could be Def FX, The Mavis’s, Caligula!!”

I never actually go to see Def FX live. I remember I was going to see them with Fireballs at a show at Adel Uni Bar in '97 but something else came up instead and the band broke up soon after. Saw The Mavis's at the Uni Bar in '97 & '98 I think. Caligula was essentially Def FX before Fiona Horne joined and they changed their name. Some of the Def FX stuff might sound a bit dated now but always had a bit of a thing for Fiona.
