Pearl Jam

Hi all,

Anyone heading to see Pearl Jam either tonight or tomorrow night? My fiance got my tickets for my birthday (not until December!) so I am going to the Wednesday show.

I used to be a HUGE fan. Still love them - just not as much. I've been to all three shows here.... including the first in '95 at Memorial Drive.

Unfortunately the earlier stuff is a lot better IMHO than more recent times. But, i don't get rid of friends just because their jokes get crappy as they got older. I was 13 when "Ten" came out, an impressionable age for one to discover a band. It still sits as my favourite album of all time.

Still looking forward to it - can't wait!

D

My Funeral Song : "Push Me Pull Me", Pearl Jam

I had a false belief
I thought I came here to stay
We're all just visiting
All just breaking like waves
The oceans made me, but who came up with me?
Push me, pull me, push me, or pull me out.

So if there were no angels, would there be no sin?
You better stop me before I begin
But let me say: if I behave, can you arrange a spacious hole in the ground
Somewhere nice, make it nice
Where the land meets my tide
Push me, pull me, push me, or pull me out

Like a cloud dropping rain
I'm discarding all thought
I'll dry up, leaving puddles on the ground
I'm like an opening band for the sun
Push me, pull me
I've had enough, said enough, felt enough, I'm fine

Missing out as BDO and U2 tickets in the one week sapped the resource well dry.I too rate "Ten" as one of my top albums of all time,and I was about 17 when it came out,I still think Porch is one of the best songs I have seen performed live.Have a good night Diss,at least you will be able to have a beer there tonight!

My funeral song:

Its a great great club
Its the club we love
We're the good old red and whites
The might Roosters we're called
All for one, One for all
If we're down we fight, fight, fight
We like to play as a team
and we play it clean
We're never out of sight (or beer)
Be it wet be it dry
We try, try, try
We're the good old red and whites!

I went last night (the Tuesday show), and wa sblown away. Had never seen them live before but they were awesome. Vedder was sick as a dog too and still managed to sound brilliant while smoking and drinking during the set. It was an all-seated show, but everyone stood up (one side of the arena anyway), and the atmosphere was sensational. U2 were good last week, but Pearl Jam topped them. Just straight music, no preaching. Vedder spoke about 3 times for a combined total of about 90 seconds throughout the set, the rest was left to the music. Sensational, couldn't have asked for anything more for my 100 bucks.

Paid tribute to Midnight Oil during Daughter by adding in some 'Beds Are Burning' lyrics. Went down an absolute treat with the whole crowd.

If anyone has the full set list from the Tuesday show, could you put it up for me? Can't remember the exact list. Cheers.

My funeral song

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, Ill say it clear,
Ill state my case, of which Im certain.

Ive lived a life thats full.
Ive traveled each and evry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, Ive had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, Im sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

Ive loved, Ive laughed and cried.
Ive had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

Haha, Jonestown.
Freaks.

This wasn't meant to be a funeral song thread!

Just got home from the concert. was MAD.
Loved every minute of it. Evenflow solo (guitar and drums) excellent. Never heard Present Tense in person before and it sounded awesome.

Crazy Mary was great too - and Yellow Ledbetter as the closer with the lights on (After Rockin' in the Free World) ended my night with a bang.

Tonight was my fourth after being to them all (95, 98, 03 and tonight).
The sound was FANtastic, no doubt.

Glad you liked it PAG - and glad you rated it higher than U2!

The torrent for both of these shows is available at http://isohunt.com/

Type in Adelaide in the search box, not Pearl Jam.

The files are titled:

Music
Adelaide, 11-21-2006

Music
Adelaide, 11-22-2006

If you can't find it, give me a buzz and I'll email them to you.
