Guy's living over here in Sydney I rarely see much of the SFL these day's but what is exactly going on down there at Hackham? It wasn't that long ago they were a fairly competitive club. By the way who's running things down there i.e President, Coach etc

One guy still at the club is Kym Evans, their Captain last week. He's a club stalwart for Hackham and a decent bloke. He came to Aldinga in 2004 when Hackham folded and we were really struggling but he chose to come help us out. I hope they don't fold as blokes like him are trying to turn things around.

It will be interesting to see if the SFL commissioners back them up enough to let them keep going. Hackham have a lot of history hope they can pull through.

Im not sure how the finances are down at Hackham, but if they are financial and can continue to pay their fees to the SFL and the like, can the league kick them out just because they lose every week? Could set a dangerous precedent because if Hackham get booted and Morphy Parks stay on next year, does that mean Morphy Parks will get booted next year? Because at this stage, if there is no Hackham, i cant see Morphy Parks winning a game next year.

I wouldn't think that they had a right ... there would be hundreds of clubs that fit that example nationwide from St. Kilda in the 1890s and 1900s as well as the 1980s in the VFL and Fitzroy in the 1990s in the AFL, right down to the smallest country league.

If Hackham are financial and the on and off-field conduct of the club is positive, then it would be fairly hard to find a valid reason (morally) to exclude them.

In the late 80's I watched the demise of McLaren Flat. They had no juniors & in my opinion no support from the league. It was all about division 1 in those days, div 2 was the poor sister. I am not sure how the league is helping Hackham, it is hard to survive without junoirs & forfieting games. Aldinga has no u/14s &u/16s yet are financial & continue to push their way through the SFL. No easy answers just harsh realities.

I'm not from the south, but was down that way for work yesterday and stopped at Hackham's oval during lunch as it was around the corner, and it didn't seem like too bad of a setup. I know Morphett Vale and the like are just around the corner, but is there any particular reason why they can't get juniors? Didn't look like a physical thing (oval etc), and the oldies there seemed to be enjoying their bingo just fine.

I know, and there were nearly more people playing bocce than playing As for em on the weekend. The funniest thing is the small crew on the hill near the scoreboard who let the occasinal sledge go- they all looked in better nick than the guys playing!

What is the word about hime is he rated highly by the players. It must be a hard gig down there so would be hard to judge his coaching ability. How did the Hawks manage to get him down there?

Very interested in the Hawks because my brother played there years ago back in about 1993 or something. Sad to hear they are doing so badly hope they will fight on next year.

Bob is fairly old school no nonsense kind of bloke. Hes ruffled plenty of feathers down there just ask the Locker brothers. Might have to get with the 21st century.

So how can they improve next season realistically? Have theygot money to go out and buy a couple of players? Does their social club pump a bit of money into the football club?

So is this rumour true are the Hawks being given $80000 dollars and what could the club hope to achieve with $80000

I would probably suggest that they don't blow it on buying A-Grade players (maybe a couple just to be a little more competitive)

From what I am hearing maybe they could put a good junior development program in place?
and maybe buy some good training equipment ie weights etc if they have good facilities mighht actract some players down there anyway?

What are the thought on how the money would be best used?
And also can anyone confirm that they are actually getting this $80000?

Yeah according to those at the club the Major Sponsor won that 25 million mega draw a few weeks ago.Have not got it confirmed how much is being donated but they could all of a sudden be competative again next year. A bit of luck is all a struggling club needs to get back on its feet and you would think with a donation like that plus maybe more over the next few years (25 million is not going to run out over nite) and not only will they be competative, but perhaps a force (Not getting too carried away just yet).Gotta be smart on how they use that money first, with a bigger loan or donation could they buy the Hackham Sports and Communtity club??If they did they would be loaded for a long time especially with the pokies facility..........

Yeah a force! would be a massive turn around for the club was just thinking though if it is a one off payment though maybe then it should be spent on improving things like junior development and club facilities?

Obviously a few handy A-Graders would be good too have also given the current plight of the club.

Will they keep the Bob Hooper as coach next season?
