Nice work Moe, i like the tool of the year idea, our C grade has this award every week and the person who wins it the most wins tool of the year, they don't win a power tool like Before the Game, just a 20mm spanner..!!
Good nomination with #7 for Porties, would be a leading contender on this forum, i'll put up a few other's and see if we can crown our very own tool of the year -
Noarlunga Runner
That little umpire - Hoover?
SFL Tribunal
Should be enough for now to get this started!

Most annoying runner would have to be the B grade runner for M/V, that voice is unbelievable!!!

OK so if we look at this club by club and the teams they still have in finals it is very interesting
Reynella - have 14s and A grade in prelims
BDOS - Have A's, Bs, 18s in prelims. No Sat Juniors in prelims - is that cos the good players all supposedly go to college schools and play on Sundays? C grade and 16/2s finished 2nd. 14/2s premiers
M Vale - Have A grade, B grade and 18s in prelims. No Sat Juniors in prelims C grade, 14/2s and 16/2s all finished 4th
Cove - Have A grade, B grade, 18s and 16s in prelims, 16/2s premiers and C grade finished 3rd
Valley - Have B grade, 18s, 16s, 14s in prelims. A grade finished 5th (is this A grade result relective of the poor relationship between Porter and players?) C grade premiers, 16/2s finished 3rd, 14/2s finished 2nd.
Noar - Have 14s and 16s in prelims. A grade finished 6th.
F Hill - have 14s and 16s in prelims
MVP - team nominated in the 14/2s comp finished 3rd (which is their only 14s team)

Dead right ---- Club of the Year is always the A-Grade Premiership club in my book.
If they want a different award for best over all grades
change the name of the award

That's why it's called CLUB of the year. A grade score higher than what lower grades do but I think the a grade premiership is the award you guys are thinking of. It's for overall club performance

Every other grade within a footy club exists to support the A grade.
Whoever wins the A grade flag in 2010 to me will be considered the strongest club (or club of the year or whatever you want to call it) in the SFL.

So if your As win the Premiership but Bs Cs 18s 16s 14s all finish bottom, that team should be classed the Club of the Year? I dont think so...

agree A grade premiership is the ultimate but when you look at some of the other clubs results so far....
HV all teams in top 4 in every other division but A grade - this must make them even more unhappy about Porter
Cove also has as many teams as valley in final 4 and has won the 16/2s but wont win the a grade flag
Reynella wins the A grade flag but has no other teams in the top 4?
Brighton wins A grade flag but their juniors dont make prelims?

No one remembers club of the year awards. You remember who the A grade premiers were tho.
For example if you were to think about who would be the strongest club in the GSFL over the past decade you would automatically think Willunga. And i dont think it has anything to do with how many times there Juniors or b grade made the top 4.

so it makes you wonder why the SFL do it???

Its a token award but presumably a reward for consistentcy across the club. The SANFL has an identical award called the Stanley H Lewis Award. From memory the SHL is based on minor round wins: 10 points for League, 5 points for Res, 3 points for Under 19 and 2 points for Under 17. (Not sure if its been changed since the change to Under 18 & Under 16.) Basically, most points win.
I think the SFL club of the year may work similar. Bag the Points should know the exact criteria.

Works the other way also if the a grade are crap and win every other grade do they deserve to not win club of the year. It's a good indication of depth and club strength. For instance if morphie parks won the a grade flag do they deserve club of the year. No offense to that either but they don't have most juniors
