SFL Club of the year?

Postby BringBackDBush » Thu Sep 27, 2007 12:32 am

I'm all for this award its been around for years.
I would think the top finishers would get it nearly all the time but that doesn't seam to be the case. I get that maybe a club who had a lot of teams around the top but not go all the way could be consideration but I'm still a little confused.
Hay league guys! I don't want to spend all my posts bagging you but do you give this job to the umpires to pick as well?
Is this is worked out by personal opinions? If so I think you would have too much personal prejudice to be objective and fair.
How about you explain you formula for calculating this award so we all can understand it.
Then maybe you'll get rid of the controversy and anger and in the process start to regain some respect from all the clubs you represent.

I think Cove were named team of the year before the finals series, or before the grand finals at the very latest. The decision should be delayed and the team with the most premierships named team of the year. Obviously senior premierships count for more. Based on that, the team of the year should have been Morphett Vale, followed by Flaggies, Reynella and Happy Valley.

Mexican pointed this out in an earlier post that the numbers don't lie even if it is just after the minor round

MV Cove
A's - 1 2
B's - 3 1
C's - 1 2
18's - 4 3
16's - 4 9
14's - 2 4

To me in any points system that would have to equate to Morphett Vale being club of the year
I believe Happy Valley won it a couple of years ago to and during the presidents acceptance speech actually told the crowd he didn't know how Morphett Vale didn't win! Maybe everyone that thinks Morphies get a cruisy run might think twice about that!
