RF, On a more serious note what is the latest on the possible move?? I for one believe it to be the wrong idea. You only have to drive past on any Wedensday night and see the future,or as I have a couple of times on a Sunday.(except for the poor cups of tea ) Your future is in your own back yard and HARD work and passionate people who are willing to have some pain for a couple of years will get you there. You have a good brand to sell and a booming residential area. Good luck and remember Rome wasnt built in a day? :)

Yeah agreed Shoe Boy. It's all up in the air at the moment. There are quite a few ppl for it and we are having a meeting tonight to see the general consensus. We will then put it to a vote. I just don't know at the moment mate feels like a backwards step but hard times none the less.

We know we have good minis numbers but all the kids look elsewhere once hitting High School with outside influences so its hard with not having a winning atmosphere. At this stage we are just trying to promote a positive environment for families to be around and if that means ppl want to go to the Hills league then so be it. I'm only part of the vote and have not got a say in trying to tell ppl otherwise so it will definatley be interesting.

On the other note looked for your name on the boards, there's no mention of S.Boy?

I've got my fingers crossed. I hope whatever the Sharks decide it works out for them, but I'm convinced with a little more time in the SFL they'd start heading up the Cove trail.
Have to admit though, SFL system hasn't helped them much, but I keep thinking about all those houses ---- what a future it could be !

I also agree, but can see why they have had enough. I think its a case of too little too late maybe? Will be interesting to hear over the next few weeks what the parents and what not think. Good luck Rodney.

From memory when this came up 5 years ago, the club came to the conclusion that it would probably take 10 years to be where they want to be. To me it just seems like a waste of 5 years if they pack up and go now.

both when meadows & kangys came back to hills they chose to keep playing their primary school grades in the panther league. far superior set up to the hfl mini league.

How did the meeting at Shark Park go last on whether to join the hills league and what does Sfl think?

OK this was from a while back but owing to the fact that a few days ago I dropped a kettle on myself resulting in some pretty cool looking burns :? I have only just managed to get back online. Anyway, thought I'd clear up the rumours, tunit:

Simon Stead is NOT training with Meadows. At the moment he is not training at all but he will be in touch with Aldinga about that. He has NOT accepted any contract that Meadows may or may not have offered him.

If you knew him then you would understand that he would never sign anything with another club without prior notice to Aldinga.

I heard they didn't actually have a vote that it was all just dscussed with the playing group. Apparently they were pointing out some good and bad points on it to give people enough time to make their own decisions then it will go to a vote with players and if accepted will go to a vote of members and parents.

That's just what I heard so still a fair way off one would say?

Whats youre view on it fair play are you involved at the club i think it would be a good idea the town is growing but success brings supporters and players kangy did it and now are a force and could easily go div 1 hills Aldinga needs something different and i think pheraps organising a bus for junior grades when playin a couple of far away matches could be a good team bonding exercise, i played in a league where we travelled 250 kms to play the bus trips where a good for team bonding, will be interested to see what happens in the near future  :supz:

No mate Im not involved down there but have alot of respect for a number of people at the sharks.

I just got some inside info.
Its a weird situation I can certainly see both sides, I think they would be silly not to at least investigate all of their options. Good luck to them.

From what i heard the sharks want to go so junior sides win more games or at least more competitive. The fact is if your Senior sides win more people come to your club = more familys = more kids = better junior players = better competitivness = winning more games. They must make the right decision for the club not for a handfull of people wanting junior success. What happens if they go and still get beaten week in week out big move for same result...

Sledge I don't think that is just why it is happening, all the locals down should look at this with open eyes, by the sounds of it your a local who is happy being in the southern league I think aldinga should look at gsfl, and its not as if they are going to play on the yorke peninsula or something, I think it can only be a good thing for the club, in every way.

Aldinga would do all right in the country Hills league. They won't be the next Kangarilla, but they'd be competitive. But I don't think a decision should be made at this stage. I meant what I said earlier - about half the players leaving - a bit of an exaggeration, yeah, but not as much as you might think. I would be waiting to see who stays and who goes, keep Aldinga in the SFL for 2009, DO A HARD PRE-SEASON, and re-evaluate things at the end of the year.

The question that no one seems to have asked yet: Does the country Hills league want Aldinga? :-k

:axe: <---- haha, sorry, I just saw this and had to put it in.

I hope Simon does stay, he is well respected around the club and I'm sure he's a required player for 2009.
The sky will not fall in if Aldinga goes to the hills or stays in the SFL (our current league for 2009)
The grass isn't always greener but the club comes before any one person's opinion which is why it will be a vote.
A reminder that only 2008 Financial members and life members are eligible for a vote, this does not include parents unless they are financial.
I have a complete list of 2008 financial members and supporters/parents/players are welcome to come see me with payment and be added to the list. This is as per the constitution.

So the kids get a vote then as they have paid their subs? The parents will be more affected by this than the few members and life members (that dont play) who are rarely seen at away games. Most of the parents who wont get a vote, "as per the constitution", will be at every away game. If juniors are the future, this needs to be given serious consideration by the club.
