M/vale started training last thursday and had good numbers out but they where expecting more. Heard a bit of goss that they where left $1,000000.00 buy someone and are getting $50,000 a year until gone. Does anybody know anything about this. Sounds like crap to me, but if true would set them up forever.

Not being an expert but if they where left that kind of money they would invest it and the return on that kind of money would be 10-12% per year. As Aurther Daliey would say " thats a nice little earner"

Gday boys good to see a bit of interest in the Southern league ..... Lions having a good pre season under Doug Clinch and although not gaining heaps of players have kept the core group of young players which has seen them make the last 2 finals series and improve every year since O Sullivan Beach and Lonsdale merged ...... Ash Baxter and Gary Dean are still out at South so could prove big losses, also J.Rigney to Jervois and Troy Williams to injury but have regained Kane McIntyre and possibly brother Luke ....... There are other rumours but nothing confirmed at this stage......Lions have trial games against Meningie and Salisbury West i think but not sure on dates ...

Good to hear the Sharks have picked up a few and interesting to hear Porties have lost a few.... how are Flaggies and Marion shaping up this year as havent heard a thing about them unlike last year?? ....

I think you'll find that Noarlunga will continue to slide down the ladder due to their lack of juniors. The only way they'll remain competitive over the next couple of years is to continue paying players. You look at the top teams and you'll find they all have very competitive junior squads, particularly their under 18's. Then you look down the bottom end of the ladder and its no coincidence that all those teams have poor juniors or no under 18s team. Clubs build a future through their juniors eg Cove. They managed to hold on to alot of their juniors and are now very competitive in the senior grades. This is why i have respect for the clubs who put time and effort into developing their juniors, rather than going out and buying them.

Flaggies picked up Pat Walton and his brother Matt is also training with them. Both played at South at reserves level.
Pat pretty much comitted to Marion but changed his mind and followed money trail to Flaggies.
Not sure if hes worth the big coin hes on. The pressure is on him to perform.

What a load of crap about a money trail to Flaggies. The club pays bugger all but has a really good incentive scheme - play well you get rewarded. Play ordinary - you go home with your bottle of water. Having played a number of years there, you all should know that like most clubs we don't have the $$$. The kids are great though - last year 16 Under 18's played A Grade - that is a fair effort in itself - probably not on the pace again this year with the Top 6 and a pretty tough draw in 07, but lookout boys in a few years. Recruits like Pat Walton - a breath of fresh air around the place.
What was stale and burnt out - has been replaced by the kids and it is great to play with some of these lads - they could almost be my kids!!
