Farrier Weidermann Way

Minns Smith Rosewell

Brookman Vick Johnstone

Brayden trained on the Tuesday night, but was checked out by the physio part way through. Physio wasn't sure that Brayden would be right for Saturday. Heard Thursday that he wasn't going to be right so he didn't come to training.

the Metro South U/15's d the Southern League by 13 points, it was a good game but the better team won at the end.

I left the match at the end of the 3rd quarter - can anyone confirm why our runner was shown the red card?? Hilarious stuff watching the umpire escort him from the field!

Thought the amateur boys looked a far more slick and skillful side, and they seemed to play with more of a game plan than our lads. Plus their ruckman was clearly too tall for Brookman and Hoare to deal with.

This may be an old point, but where does the under 23's directive come from, the SAAFL or SFL? It was a prety small crowd down at Thebarton, surely an open age match would draw more people?

Final score was SAAFL 17-20 (122) d SFL 9-7 (61).

SAAFL has an Under 23 team because I think thats the age that they play their state games at. This is done so State Amateur teams aren't loaded with ageing ex AFL, SANFL, WAFL, VFL players. SFL has committed to play a younger side without any strict age barrier but does generally avoid picking older ex SANFL players like the Moore's, McKeough's etc. Amateurs took game very serious as they are preparing to play Victoria on 19 July. Apparently SAAFL team had superior leg speed and SFL could have done with the Bayly's and Simper if they weren't injured or unavailable. SFL is also currently fairly weak in one area - RUCK. Brookman has just returned from 2 years overseas and although he has been serviceable to good, it was surprising that he was selected to lead the Ruck. I can't quite work out what the issue is with Bode at Morphett Vale but I'm sure SFL would have had him pencilled in at the end of last season.

Apparently it was for asking the ump what he saw to make him call the free the way he did.

As DownTheHill said the SAAFL rep side that plays the Vic And WA sides is under 23. They use the game against the SFL as a final hit out before playing the interstate matches. Last year they interstate match was on the long weekend so the SFL had to find another league to play.

Bode didn't have enough of his mates playing in the seniors Association side. Big Fish in Little Pond Syndrome. Happy to dominate Morphies U18s rather than play against men in SFL or even better himself at SANFL

Yeh all seems a bit soft really wants to play with mates and doesnt like the pressure he's playing local footy look at Bryce Gibbs he had the pressure of an AFL club and expectations of an entire country on his shoulders before he was drafted. Maybe he should have a good look at what to much pressure is.

He does have a BOG medal in an A grade Grand Final - pretty sure he was playing against men that day......

Almost everyone i think would like to see him at the very least playing A grade in the SFL as he quite clearly has bags of ability. But i dont think there is a law stating that if your good at footy you have to follow a path that everyone wants you to.

Any truth in a rumour circulating about a "blue" at the Sea and Vines yesterday involving players from rival SFL clubs.
