He's right tho ! They should have the whole club in the SFL - not just the bits they choose to !

Until SAAFL gets its head around saturday junior footy and actually does something about it then things will remain status quo for some time. When it does then that could be the start of the end for SFL. The difficulty is that in SAAFL there is no gate returns, salary caps, expensive affiliation fees and an executive that it's there way or the highway so to speak. The simple solution is for SFL to bite the bullet split their div's in 2 and make it attractive for lower ranked SAAFL clubs to look harder instead of trying to attract the ace clubs. Then watch the amatuer clubs start talking to them, but unfortunately the SFL executive has history and most SAAFL clubs struggle to trust them. It's a pity because it wouldn't take much to make it a very strong footy league. It's called VISION and it requires taking your head out your bum.

SAAFL affiliation fees are very costly to clubs... very expensive

I overheard a conversation regarding the clubs only meeting last night at Reynella where 3 SFL officials that weren't invited were sent on there bikes  . I believe all clubs were represented except Aldinga. Any news to come out of this?

Absolutely spot on post =D> =D>

Watch this league grow and become a force again if a decision is made to switch to 2 divisions. Lets face it the SFL is not an attractive proposition in its current state.

About two thirds of the SAAFL costs and they get to keep the gate takings on home games in both leagues. Reckon it is $5.00 pp. Smart, strong clubs pay none. Correct me if I'm wrong southsiders.

The strength is also the juniors playing with the senior group, a full day of football

Effectively our strength is Country Style football in the metropolitan area, the remaining clubs who don't want this either whinge or are in the amateur league

In the Messenger the League President said 2 divs won't be in until 2014 at the earliest. May be too late by then, some teams might have left.

Where would they go, one of Brighton's biggest complaints is they don't make enough money from playing games against a number of clubs. The only comp that would accept them would be the Amateur League - no gate money, higher affiliation fees - not sure that is the greatest business decision.

Hills FL and Great Southern FLs are not going to accept any more clubs, so unless these unhappy clubs are going to relocate to the Mallee or Outback somewhere, I'm not sure they have too many options.

I'm not sure charging the 3 people that go and watch would be worth it.
