I think it's fair enough to ask the question about them. Especially with a lot of their players looking elsewhere at present it probably only adds to the anxiety of it all.

As TBB said we all hope that they are around and it may not be any major news not appointing a coach yet but in a ideal world the players would have obviously thought that one would have been appointed by now, especially if they are as keen as everyone says.

In no way would I try and criticise Lonsdale OSB but surely some heavy pro active research or interviewing would have to be occurring, instead not much has been said or heard about any of the such therefore adding to the curiosity about a coach.

One things for sure it would be a sad day to see any of our clubs go under so I hope in that instance the senior players that are looking elsewhere maybe think twice before jumping ship.

Look we are interviewing 2 coaches this weekend with very good credentials. We have been pro active and have chased many a coach without success. Quite simply 2008 was a complete disaster and is the main reason why we are struggling to attract the kind of coach we are after. Like i have said before if someone is willing to put their balls on the line they may be pleasantly surprised with our list what a great place it is down at the Lions Den. Dont get me wrong a lot of work needs to be done (mainly with depth) but we need a structure (game plan, fitness etc) that only a good coach can bring.

On a positive note many other things are happening at the Den. New goal posts will be going up shortly, new air con just installed and massive improvements in the lighting happening before the season starts. We may not have the flashest facilities around but there will be huge improvements over the next few years. Looks like we will have u14's and possibly other saturday junior teams. Our sunday numbers are growing fast, so much so we will field two 6/7s in 2009(fingers crossed). Does this sound like a club that wont be around in 2009???

Keep rocking on, LH. The knockers have no idea what is happening at your club, because like me they are not down there.
I'm looking forward to seeing your guys not only carrying on in 2009 but heading back up the ladder. :-bd

Yes guys happy to announce that Matthew Patterson will be coaching the Lions in 2009. Matthew served his apprenticeship under Greg Anderson at GAZA and COVE. Came highly reccommended by Greg and seems a very professional and organised character. Im sure he will bring in some structure to the Lions and the boys are keen and ready to get right behind him.

Patterson non playing coach.

Francis was definately interviewed but out of our price range and was probably in it for the wrong reasons. Matt was enthusiastic and offered everything we were looking for in a coach.
