Fair enough guys. I suppose the stronger clubs agenda differs from the weaker clubs and you can't please everyone (Bombers still got screwed this season). 14 teams and 18 rounds will never work all that well. What about Bombers beating Christies at Bice by 36 goals after Christies ran Wineys to 12 goals the week before. A great result for the Meekins non-admirers. Expect the young super-fit Bombers to gather momentum over the next 2 months and be ready to take on the heavyweights late in season and finals. This current Bomber side is more suited to the bigger grounds, which most finals are played on, so don't write them off just yet.

Dont think anyone will be writing off the Bombers - unless of course they continue this recent trend of forfeiting games unnecessarily

Down the Hill how are your boys shaping up in the forward line? Thought you were lacking a key forward when you played Morphies early in the season. Tho i spose you must have fixed something up if you piled on 36 goals last week!

Can someone please tell me is it true that Michael Bode has been invited out to a grade association training? If true, does it not seem a little silly considering all this lad wants to do is play with his close mates in the under 18s.I really hope that Michael does not get too the stage were he says i wont play at all,We all know he could be a superstar but i really think he needs to be left alone.I think we all need to remember that some of us are not as comitted as others.

Forward line a work in progress and lack of potency in the early games denied the Bombers a couple of wins. Statham is a gun but can't play at both ends at the same time. May still lack a Dunc Draper or Godwin to finish the work of the midfield but will be looking for some younger guys who have now played 20 to 40 A grade games to step up and become good consistent contributors.

Just about time to bring out the "old chestnut" again. Looking at the weekends results in the SFL, what is proven by some clubs winning by the biggest of margins, absolutely nil!! . All it does is turn people away. :(

I think it's prudent now for the SFL & GSFL to start talking again, amalgamate with 2 divisions and at least get some credibility and some evenness back in a footy competition.

While I'm at it, it's time the HFL showed some balls too and had the promotion/relegation system reintroduced or they' ll stuff up their comp as well!

Captain Cordial - i agree i think we need to get 2 division's out of SFL and GSFL and all teams must be able to fill all sides especially juniors

Cyclops, plenty of ways around that too. Most leagues try to do what's best for their competition and the way the SFL is heading, the weaker clubs will fall by the wayside 'cause seniors won't want to play there when they've had a gutful of losing, so what happens to the kids.
A club cannot exist on juniors alone.

Flaggies knocked off Marion and yes Wes Bilney played for them and again was in their best.

CMH, Flaggies had a pretty comfortable win over Marion in the end. Ended up being about 7 goals but Flaggies were never really challenged.

Wes Bilney played and was named as Marions best, but Im not too sure he was. Likes the open footy and has skills and pace to burn. Very handy addition to the Marion side. Will be interesting to see how long he stays around, as there seems to be a lot of speculation about him moving back home. I reckon we might see Marion play hard ball if he asks to leave.

Sorry about the misinfo about the Sharks winning the first quarter ---- my mail came from stats released by the Southern Footy League. (Thanks SFL ---- what else are you getting wrong !)
They had the quarter-time score as Morphett 1-1, Aldinga 1-3. I thought the Emus must've booted 15 in the second ---- must have actually been eight in each quarter
Still no Sixties ---- even 40 by Reynella was the same 20-goal improvement the Hawks have been showing in previous weeks.
Did anyone see the "Thought For The Week" on the cover of the Boot last week --- I reckon its pretty apt -- "It matters not where you are, but in what direction you are travelling"

Maybe John McPherson from the u18 could be looked at.He has great hands, competes in the air and on the ground really well and has good goal sense.Reckon you could do alot worse than giving this young fella a crack.
If the only reason you play is for a beer with your mates after the game, your playing for the wrong reasons !!

Johnny Mac got a taste of some A and B grade footy last year as a 17 year old and has also played several C grade games, so he's clocking up game time against men. He is being managed well and is a very exciting prospect for 2009 and beyond.

The whole squad was named in 'The Boot' on saturday. I didnt buy one so if someone has a copy they might be able to post it on here and help you out.

For anyone in the know, what was the turnout for the meeting like?
