Now its 2008 and most teams due to start pre-season for real can anyone confirm some signings for any SFL teams? Seems like its been pretty quiet so far.... a little too quiet.

Feel Free to update or correct if anything is wrong but from what i've read on here or heard so far i believe we have:

M/Vale: No new signings but a few familiar faces returning from season injuries or a season off
Reynella: Butcher returned, Ben Moore, 2 blokes from westies & the south u/19 captain, Angove from Christies, new lawyer.
Brighton: Possible return of Brookman
Valley: Sounds as if Mahar is not playing this year but apparently recruited Loots from Myponga. Also heard they may have got some Mitchell Park players
Porties: Tedmanson back for entire season, May have lost Brown O/Seas (not literally)
Cove: ?? (Interested to hear what's been happening with the cobras)
Flaggies: Is it the ruckman Size has gone to GSFL
Marion: apparently signed Stokes
Hackham: apparently have got some Yank players, They also apparently won 25 million in X lotto.
Shoes: Hudson probably not going to play in 08 due to the injury he copped last season
Christies: Lost Badenoch, Reeves, Angove & possibly Tanner. havent heard of any recruits. Screech may be the key forward for the saints in 08.

Anything else people can add?

There was a whisper about Comer going to Edwardstown through the Mitton link...think Golding is still down at Townies earning a stack, so not sure what role Mitts has in store for Comer...

First of all Morphetville Park to Goolwa isn't that big a trip. Would it be about an hour? That's bugger all, try living in the country. I trained 35 mins away from my house.

Would city clubs have to fork out more money because their players would be travelling further?

Great idea Mickey but I can't see the GSFL teams competing with the top SFL teams. I think you'd just end up adopting a couple of the s***t ones.

Andy # 24 you still using public transport to head to footy training?
I got a spare Multi Trip if you need one.....

I'd have thought Golding would have been the better option in ruck Comer is still good but does get beaten by the better rucks in the SFL

Golding a better Mark than Comer I reckon.
Haven't seen Comer beating by many Ruckman in the SFL.

Bode 17 yr old kid jumps well over him I was more referring to the around the ground Comer is only effective when teams are stupid enough to just bomb it forward and he sits a kick behind taking marks. Top sides tend to cover the lines a bit better take the kick behind out of it and he doesn't have too much influence at all.

Comer's name gets mentioned a fair bit. First I heard that he was off to Victor Harbor, but I also beleive that possibly Cove had a chat to him. Not really in the loop so could be bull.

F*** he was pretty quick, I was 16 playing A's for Hackham CC.We were ordinary and my 16's coach conned me into opening against Cove and I went out with the established A grader who was too scared to face him first nut,so he made me face himdidnt see the first 2 even though I wore the second, hit the 3rd for 4 with a thick outside edge to third man then my middle stump went flying the next delivery. Our captain was 1st drop and all I heard when I walked past him was "Thanks alot".I was 16 ffs facing a bloke who aparently took Jamie Siddons head off in the nets at Adelaide Oval one day, what does the bloke expect.Fair to say why I never played for the club again and probably explains why they are no longer around

Patty Walton from Flaggies has moved to ACT for career (ADFA). Looks like may suit up for Eastlake in ACTAFL. I know for 100% fact, Eastlake are on a recruitment drive currently for quality players in GSFL & SFL. They have plenty of $'s & are looking at making contact both for 2008 & 2009. The hardest step is discovering guys phone numbers, to see if they are interested or signed etc. You can be assured it would be he clubs key players who still have plenty of footy ahead of them.

On a different note, I like the super league idea. I actually spoke about this with a few people last year and a few were concerned about the travel. Some people whinge about driving to Aldinga once every two years. Unfortunately it is city mentality. I think it would create two competitive comps, while the relegation system giving div 2 teams a reward for club improvement. Could the two associations work together, split finances, etc. Atleast they already have the one umpiring panel. An interesting view with how it affects juniors.

So maybe the superleague concept is a way off yet unless some serious discussions are had.

The alternative challenge which has sort of begun this year is how Morphies & Willunga are playing the trial. Can we introduce a SUPERBOWL concept? The winners of each grade & league come together & player another club in the rival conference/league the week after Grand Final. I'm sure businesses in both SFL & GSFL regions could get behind this for sponsorship. Prizemoney could be offered possibility (maybe with a claus that its used like a grant to improve facilities not recruitment).
