Anyone heard of any player movements as yet?

Heard late last week that Reynella have definately missed out on Moore, looks likely to play at PHOS next year is my mail, by all reports they threw just about everything at him and it wasn't enough, even the club sponsor Teac plasma was part of the deal. It was also confirmed they approached Cranston and Sherwood from the Bay but have missed out on both, they are staying put. Have had no confirmation but a cloud still exists over 4-5 of their starting 18...

Am i right in saying that the president is the owner of Teac?

I know they certainly throw a bit of sponsors product around to try and lure players to Winefly Park. Watching them a couple of times this year they certainly didnt impress me greatly and if they lose 4-5 of their starting 18 they may struggle depending on whether the other sides improve.

Morphett Vale too strong again in 08 but im sure that Hilly, Early and co know that premierships dont come easy and the hard work needs to be done to ensure the same results as previous years.

Agreed Mex, coaching staff at Morphies led by Pottsy implemented a big cultural change at the club a few years ago and put faith in the system of developing players. Four flags later Morphies are the club everyone wants to beat.

Big challenge coming up in the next couple of years for Morphies coaching staff though. The 2nd's fell away a bit this year after making consecutive GF's in recent years. The B's looked much younger this year, so it might take a couple of years for those kids to develop and take the place of the older blokes in the A's that are on their way out. The Emus always seem to cover any losses well, like this year for example when a couple of key players were injured, but traditionally teams that spend a long time at the top have to go through a rebuilding stage again at some point. Is the same development happening like it was when Pottsy was around?

After Jervois take a couple of players do you think Morphies will look a bit thin Mex?

B's were not up to their normally accepted standard this year, 4 GF's in a row for 3 wins and a loss and an exit in the prelim final this year, last 5 years not too bad. The result this year was unacceptable and was a year for the team to blood a considerable amount of younger players that weren't quite ready to have the influence required to win a game when the chips were down... With the influx we are receiving i would expect things at the club to mirror 2004/05 A's and B's premiers, i know that after the A's have won the last 2 there are 25 odd other equally important footballers hungry for more success 2008 will be the year. As for Jervois taking some of our players... Dream on...

I have recently recieved information that Reynella have lost several of their starting 18. Word has it Sitters & Smitheram are going to the Hills League and Milo is on his way down to the South East. I know of several other players looking elsewhere for 2008 but I won't say too much because apparently I have no idea as to what is happening at Winefly Park. At least that's what fly and AFLflyer tell me.

Yeah Clog Boy, gym should be up and running within a fortnight, you must have some good sources close to the Emu... Only lacking a couple things down there at the moment, a decent playing surface and some decent cricketers... Any suggestions..??

So we can expect to see some Ben Nelson arms next year?

Yeah i have a suggestion burrito lover, why doesnt the Emus footy club give the cricketers more ownership over clubrooms and bar takings in the off season?

Look at Porties who are the standouts at the moment. Their footy club hands over the club to the cricketers in the off season and it pays dividends on the field.

I went down to the cricket at Morphies two weeks ago, there was no facilities open at all...some of the regular football blokes who love having a beer watching the cricket in summer had to walk over to the Emu to get a coldie...not exactly two teams from the same club working in harmony...

Any other SFL people know how it works with their cricket teams?

Dutchman - I can only elaborate with what you mentioned above in regards to Porties.
For the past 8 years the cricket/footy relationship has been fantastic ever since the lease was handed over in the summer for 5 months.
Facilities have improved big time, morale is great all year round between the committees and the players love going back to the club knowing their money is filtering back to the cricket club.
Previous to that, the cricket club had no money, shit facilities and the relationship between footy/cricket was somewhat of a 30 year war.
I know the shoes were looking at doing a similar thing 2 years ago as they approached us as to how we went about things but I'm not sure of the outcome.
Good luck to Morphies though, I hope the oldest cricket club in the state can recover like their footy side.
If you want a drink on a saturday arvo Dutchman,, our club is ALWAYS OPEN.... :)

Dutchman - yes i agree with the problem and bar opening at Morphett Vale. The footy club doesnt think they make enough out of opening the bar on saturdays unless there is going to be a lot of people there (i.e the Trevor Powell shield day on 10th November), I thought it was volunteers who run the bar so they should be happy with only taking 1 or 2 hundred bucks anyway. The cricket club should maybe start selling beers out of eskies when done 10 or more years ago they made a fair bit of money out of it and yes some players knowing it is going to the cricket club will hang around and have a few.
Best thing is for the football club and cricket club to work in harmony though and have the bar open and either footy club run it for footy club profit or cricket club run it for cricket club profit!!

Mexican

Leave the cricketers alone - maybe you should come back and support one day again or even volunteer to run the bar so it is open and make them feel like they are wanted there before they leave the oval and go and play at Knox park and have there own facilities supplied by the council!!

At winefly park cricket/footy relationship is not that good, the footy club players have no respect for the cricketers and are alwys talking about trashing the turf pitch. Maybe they are jealous of the succeess of the cricket club. The footy players keep trashing the club as well and I beleive that the community centre have no put them on a bond.

Personally I like the Porties model and if it could happen at winefly park I would be a big advocate, however the footy club would have to hand it over without any damage and if they were running it for 6 months of the year without the control of the community centre god knows what condirion it would be in. I beleive that the footy club has some functions away from the community centre anyway.

Luckily both Presidents of footy and cricket clubs have a good relationship to sort any problems out.

Ducthman- I hope Morphies stay alive, maybe some older players need to get back and help out.

Out and out lie! Once again all read on this forum is a bagging of reynella. Lads get over it starting talking about something else. The only truth i have read on this forum is about Sitters and Smitheram have gone to the Hills league Torrens Valley for an obscene amount of coin. Milo looks like staying because he is a bad driver and wouldnt make it to the south east.

Magic - I've heard its done, Milo is gone....

you would be amazed at the coin on offer up there, especially with Cobb not resigning because Robe wanted to give him a pay cut because of his poor year.

Magic - When are you going to start accepting the facts. Even your own cricket players tell the truth. I know some of the cricket lads and the division between the cricket and footy club is disgusting. The sooner the football side of things is cleaned up the better. You might find some past players/supporters will return then. And by last reports Milo is going, that info is only 2 days old and quite reliable.

Alright rock no problems. I just dont see it quite as bad as that. The footy club stuffed up a couple of years ago with the ground issue. They have since tried do everything right. it will take time to heal but the division you talk about is false. Im involved with both so i know a little bit champ. Lets discuss something else like Mclaren Vale?
