Jeez Mattee huge loss.
When did this happen? I thought Flaggie would do everything possible to keep him.
Any idea on a replacement? Hopefully someone good that will get flaggies continuing to make the progress we saw late last year. It would be good to see you guys competitive.

Well, I just read a bays press release from the 18th of October- so pretty recent!

Big loss as said earlier, hopefully the improvement continues with whoever steps in...

Happened in the last week mate, and Flaggies did everything to keep him.

Was a personal choice so the club didn't have a lot of choice.

Big loss for Flaggies, but hopefully we can find a good replacement in the coming weeks.

Is Flagstaff Hill in the Bays Zone or is it in Westies?

Just wondering if Coxy will send any errant bay players to F/Hill or Brighton..

Personally I'd love to see it back. Many of the SFL board members have said they would like to see it back. There was a meeting at Strathalbyn this season about trying to bring the shield back, don't know how it went though.

You'd think it would help with the selection of the zone team as well. Most of the top players from the 4 leagues playing, with all the selectors there.

600 a game? Who would knock back 600 a game to play in a 4 time premiership team?

Huge loss.

This may not happen, just read on the SANFL site that there will be no U17 comp this year.

Have heard that too Real McCoy. The SANFL seems to be in favour of adopting an U18s competition, much like the TAC Cup. If this happens you would assume the U19s coach would get the gig.

I think if you have another read of the thread that is attached in the sanfl forum you might find that they are thinking of possibly getting rid of the U17s in 2009, not 2008.

I have not yet had a read, but I've been saying this should happen for years.

The benefits would be:
* that all 3 grades (u/18's, reserves & league) play at the same SANFL ground and that will surely increase crowd numbers

* more SA boys will get drafted, and our State U/18's will be alot more competitive

* all the 19 year olds that are too old to play in the new U/18's comp, and not good enough to play reserves will filter back to local clubs and make them stronger (19's has been a waste of time for years now)

*should also free up some umpires too

Great news if it comes in!

If Jervois are not recruiting then I wasn't sitting at lunch with a particular player who was asked to meet with the club about playing in 2008 at Jervois, further more he has since now met with them! He is the second player I know personally and have witnessed being asked to a meeting with Jervois but like I said I may have imagined it....

everyone on here stirs the pot mate. but no one on here would know what he is doing apart from him and Jervois officials. And how do we even know if he has even spoke to them. So much talk but really its all hear say.

But why would you knock back 600 a game in a team like Jervois?

Also, id say 600 a game wouldnt be offered to play at jervois. what do you think about this Dutchy?
