For a strong league Southern has the worst standard of umpiring i have ever seen or played in. Where do they find these guys? Which clowns did they choose for the big one?

Who does everyone like for BOG? Bayly's are an obvious choice. I might go for Bode.

Bode is a great tip i may second that he was fantastic last week shows great ability for a 17 year old against bigger bodies. Jumped all over Porties ruckmen last week and dominated around the ground took some big pack marks. Best in the first final and 3rd in the prelim think he will back that up tomorrow. Surely a higher calling is waiting for him next season? To much talent wasting away in the SFL.

And King best for Brighton he'll give it all, all day.

Best call ever on this site I'd say. Great tip Turk and would say after the last month Bode would have South hard on his case for 08. looked a Big crowd but there still wasnt a massive amount of noise sat next to the "Bomber Army" and they were loud but couldn't hear much from the other side. The size of the ground seemed to muffle the noise from around the ground still. Well Done Morphies even when challenge they still look the best by a mile.

Brilliant effort by the Flaggy U/16s team to knock off the previously undefeated shoes in the GF...kept the huge number of supporters on the outer wing happy!

The argument for letting cars in wouldnt work as their is no possible way that everyone would have fit in the ground. First in best dressed i spose it would add to the atmosphere but the grandstand, hill and both wings were packed so that would only leave room for behind the goals.

Emus too strong again especially in the big man department but i felt a few umpiring decisions went against the bombers at crucial times. Two goals disallowed from very ordinary decisions.

Whos going to stop Emu's for 5 in a row and beyond?

You’ve got to be joking Lion.
I was there your numbers may be right but the south eastern side was empty if the ball went out on the fall you’d have to rely on one of the four lonley weelie bins to throw it back. You can’t tell me you couldn’t fit 2 to 3 rows of cars back there.
The score board side wasn’t that much better. Because it was such a sunny day most were under the shelter on the western wing and because it is not graded up as you go back all people standing 4 rows back struggled to see.
At least the north western pocket was better it’s stepped up as you go back.
The Winnies seamed to make the most of that area early in the day but once the A’s came on that area too fragmented. I guess some of them stuck around to see were they went wrong last week and the rest went back to the club to formulate a new protest to the league. The bottom line is it was another SFL grandfinal tainted by the sterial location that is SAFC.

Yeah fair enough you make some good points Bush but you cant tell me that more than half the cars in the paddock out front could have fit into the ground. I agree the atmosphere i better at porties but i doubt that any gf in s.a. would have a larger crowd. Ive been to few gfs in other leagues (hills/gsfl and rmfl) and the crowds wouldnt be as big as southern. If they let 100 or so cars in next year this may help the atmosphere but the mere size of the ground is a reason why you cant too much happening on the other side.

Porties was great but im not sure 200 drunk 16 year olds fighting was a good advertisement for our league. You must admit a lot of that kind of behaviour has been stamped out. Do you remember the massive all in brawls at the last 2/3 gfs at porties?? I probably sound like a stick in the mud but as much as id like to bring my own piss and run amok at porties it was getting out of hand.
Whats the answer? Our leagues getting bigger and stronger and i dont think porties is big enough. Anyone know if official crowd number were taken cause it would be interesting to know?

HILLS, GSFL, RMFL you sound like you’ve been invited around to a few GF as a Southern League representative, one of those league directors knob heads I bet.
You can tell by your exaggerations and over stating of the facts, it’s your way of justifying this crap decision of putting and keeping the GF at SAFC.

200 drunken 16 year olds? I was there that day there was not that many and they were not that young. If the spectators didn’t gravitate to the incident like flies to dog shit it wouldn’t have disrupted the game at all.

You want to see some numbers for the game on Saturday how about the numbers of security and police present at SAFC. If you had the same amount at Porties as you did there these things wouldn’t have happen and if it looked like something was brewing it could have be nipped in the bud quickly I’m sure.

Numbers? the crowd numbers were bigger at PNFC in the past, cars and all, and on the league size,.. squeezing the left over div2 teams into the div1 doesn’t make this comp bigger.
And having a final 8 were the top 6 were contenders and the rest may as well have quit halfway through the year is no indicator of strength.

It’s just more rhetoric, spin, BS to mask the leagues true reason behind the move.
Those knob heads just love to schmooze with SAFC, appease them by throwing them our GF to make some money off us. I bet they all smile as they give each other the secret hand shake at the half time segregated luncheon.
Smugly grinning because they know that even though the masses don’t want it they still were able to DICTATE their will for the sake of their hidden agendas.

Bring back the GF to the PNFC if the clubs want it the league who are representatives of the clubs should want it too. Between us all we should be able to manage the problems as a co-operative group or should I say LEAGUE of SFL supports.

Morphies for five in arow...very possible. I reckon Shorty and Fishlock maybe looking over their shoulders a little. Morphies have heaps of young guns around the place. These two aren't getting younger but they do still have an influence on the young blokes out there.

The Messenger paper reckons 3000 at the GF, fair turn out it would have been good had they all been there at once. Must have left to watch the Power juggernaut roll on. Next year with cars in people may stay around longer.

Everyone has the same idea about the GF moving back to PNFC but the SFL officials...The GF was crap again. Morphies by 7 or so goals and brighton didnt look like they were going to get close after the 3rd term. There was never going to be a comeback... brightons players etc should of just gone home. Although congrats on making it there!

With all the security etc at SAFC they would easily accomodate at PNFC. Whats the league thinking seriously.... There has to be more to it than just stopping fights. (They also ran out of drinks)

Mvale should go to another league i reckon there belting teams everyweek. 5, 10 or 15 goals is still a massive difference! Didnt they go undefeated? Noone will beat them. Let alone when it counts!

Only if SFL officials read this site they could see what the fans really want! Surely we can create a petition etc to get it back there?

If Morphies should leave Hills what comp should they goto?

Seems to me like a pretty weak option most clubs would love to have a crack at Morphies what kind of a hollow premiership it would be the next year if your club won just because Morphies left the league? It'd be like losing a Prelim and winning a GF! Surely theres only one club that would claim that as a victory!

Had a few drinks with the Morphies boys on Monday night and they are super keen to go again.
There is no way they should go anywhere, surely the goal of every other club is to get up to Morphett Vales level, it would be exciting to know u need to play to ur best to beat them.

Well done to all premiership teams from the weekend. Especially M/Vale going undefeated and making that 4 on the trot. Havent heard any whispers of retirements from any of the senior guys and with Aaron Hill and Wayne Pittman making comebacks next season they would surely be shortpriced to make it 5.

Should be an interesting summer. Heard a rumour Marion will be opening the chequebook for the first time in a few seasons. Brighton i imagine will be doing everything they can to secure a key forward. I know Bodey was outstanding and got the medal but Smith down back was the major difference on Saturday. Brighton couldnt get it past him in that second half. Other hot rumour at the moment is that Vick could be heading to RMFL.

And of course the Rock will be on the phone to a few Winefly's.........

Some would say the business end of the season has just finished... well its just started for many behind the scenes. Swooper you're right I'll be making contact with several players but now's the time to play the cards close to the chest. Who's going where will all unfold in due course.
As for 2008... I think Swooper and the Last Word are on the money. The Emu's are still a young side with a good mix of experience and they only get bolstered when players return. This club has sure set the standard and its now up to the remaining clubs to follow suit. Learn from the Emu's, its all about professionalism... an area some other clubs clearly need to work on.

Yeah good call rock, swooper and hillsy. Even the thought for someone saying for Morphies to go to another league is completely ridiculous.

We all play footy to get better or better ourselves and each other to say that is a very very weak option. The only way your ever going to improve is by playing with and against the best opposition possible.

I've been on the end of some massive beltings by all of the sides in this league but we are finally turning because we persisted. I personally look forward to the challenge of playing all of you and even more so the larger more successful clubs ie; Morphett Vale,Brighton,Reynella. This is what its about if maybe people stop whinging and just get on with it and work harder maybe the results they desire will come.

Well done to all grades who won on the weekend I look very forward to all the off season changes in squads and and cant wait to roll out in 08!
