What are they going to do right now wishiwas? Call off the season right now and start a new one? and make 2 maybe 3 divs?? Im sure they are looking in to it and will assess it over the entire season, then decide what to do. Although there are a lot of very one sided matches so far, can i bring up the point that sometimes it only takes one season to turn around a club, example Noarlunga last year, finished third at end of minor round and were a pretty good side,. Porties last year were non competitive against the top 8 and finished a lowly 11 out of 14. Last weekend porties beat noarlunga by 18 goals!! pretty big turn arounds both ways there.
So it can happen that sides lift (and fall) and the compettion will change year by year.

not asking for anything to bo done right now petoe. but surely this needs to be seriously looked at. the obvious would be to revert back to 2 divisions, as i am sure that no clubs would want to merge.
i do know that clubs at the bottom of the ladder are spending money on players as well as the clubs at the top, but all to no availe obviously.
true, clubs can turn it around in a year, but one gets the feeling that aldinga, hackam, morphie park and even marion wont turn it around for quite a long while.

hillsrider wrote:see a couple of you have tipped aldinga to finish at the bottom. they will be a big improvement on last year, as they have picked up quite a few very good recruits. plus a coach that the whole club and players have gotten right behind. there numbers have been excellent for there trainings, and they have had some good results in trial games. cant see them finishing in the bottom 4.

Yep, Aldinga looked to have improved.

i hear around the traps they have almost a new senior team compared to last year. you would think that would make them a lot more competative, but obviously not!

yep noarlunga are definatley struggling at the moment with many players out injured.

I wouldn't expect much from them this year, but next year may well be a different story with a few former quality juniors looking at coming back to the club.

Like mentioned above teams go up and down like yoyo's, portied just missed out on a GF two years ago, were average last year and now will look to finidh top four and be reasonably competitive.

Some of the teams that have been struggling for years may have to have a good hard look at by the sfl.

Already given my spiel in the "should Southern merge with Amatuers" topic, so I won't bore everyone again here but I'm sure the League is monitoring the situation.

Can anyone tell me why Marion have continually gone down hill over the last five years? They seem to have magnificent facilities down there, its a mystery why they wouldnt have an abundance of good talent to choose from. By the look of their scores recently it only seems to be getting worse for them.

From what I can make of it, there is a bit of an unstable off field situation and some (perhaps most) of the players they had have left for this reason. A number have followed former premiership player Craig Lallard up to Macclesfield and while they may not be all gun players, it takes away much needed depth.
