LINTON BISHOP

I`ve heard the same news magoo.
I think he is the front runner at moment from what I hear.
Has anyone on the forum played under him?
If so whats he like as a coach and a bloke?

I played under lynton bishop as a 16y.o. onwards at hahndorf when echunga turned him down in 1977.
it was is 1st year at "A" grade coaching i beleive.
he enjoyed his distance running. so pre-season we saw a lot of the hills we'd never seen in and around hahndorf.
disciplined is one word to describe him way back then. took us from the bottom of zone 3 to the grand final that 1st year.
well respected from that year on for getting hahndorf back on the football map. Even had the great peter darley play that year also for us. he was one of the reasons hahndorf made it back into zone 1 or central division as it's known now.
won 3 mail medals playing mainly on the wing and continued to play for the club after his coaching tenure was up.
yes he did marry a local handorf girl who actually is a good friend of mine.
I went to a fight the other night, and a hockey game broke out. - Rodney Dangerfield (1921 - 2004)

The old coach would have done me but politics at the top made him leave so i just hope whoever gets the job is a good coach that can avoid the knife throwers at our club.

Thanks for the official mail t express...

I heard he has a considerable budget to work with.

Do you think he will or should go shopping? Surely after seeing how the Emu's achieved success he wont be chasing many players?

Great Appointment by Reynella to snatch Earl from MV.
"Fly" talking to 3 senior players of Reynella over the weekend, they
straight out said sacking David Evans was the best thing for the club.
His record at Reynella is terrible.
Good Luck Edwardstown!
Also well done to Happy Valley getting Porter back.
Porter did a great job at Cove and helped set up a lot of the success they enjoyed in 2008.

So is Morphies the only club left without an "official" coach at this stage?

Also IMO i think it is not as big a deal as some are making out that Early is now at Reynella. he was an assistant at Morphies and has left to further his coaching career. Happens in Footy all the time. Just that we cant wish him all the best for obvious reasons....

It will just be a matter of time before Bishop is appointed at the Emus

from all accounts he's been keen on the reynella job for sometime and was keen to apply before Evans was appointed. he needs to get everyone playing as a team and get all the club working together. I wouldn't think shopping for players would be a huge priority.. interesting to see how they go next year....

Ahhh Reynella, you never fail me. What can I say. fly is right Early... watch out for those knives. You may have a few in your back if you don't get off to a good start. One thing is for sure you won't lack a budget but to be honest I'd place more faith in the locals and the young ones coming through. You'd be better served than wasting the money on so called imports with over sized egos.

I as a player will get behind Early and the club i hope the committee gives him support at all times, and leg rope Evans was not sacked he left due to the committee not wholly supporting him and for the record he was a good coach in my opinion, but not everyone has the same opinion, which is a natural thing. He has moved on and so will Reynella and only time will tell how Edwardstown go next year.3rd and 5th in 14 team comp is not a shocking performance i would have thought!!

With very strong juniors since the mid 90's, two junior teams in the 14's and u/16's, and a very high proportion of local population at playing age, I'm sorry, finishing 5th is shocking. Both Cove and M/vale are fortunate enough to have the same attributes, but one has four flags and the other achieved one in quite remarkable speed since their promotion.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

No offense "FLY" but Evans was sacked.
My mail is no players wanted him, Board Voted him out and supporters hated him.

Don't be so defensive towards HIM unless you are him?
Everything player I ask from Reynella believes he can't coach, good luck

If this is wot the reynella footy club is really like then early will not put up with all this sh#t,and 1 of 2 things will happen-either he will be gone before seasons end or players/supporters will be gone. One thing the wineys need to remember also, you have sum very good kids coming thru the ranks and early works extremely well with kids.I for one dont think that any coach can get any more out of the current senior group and i feel early will look to the kids and so he should.OUT WITH THE OLD,IN WITH THE KIDS.Be a bit more patient reynella youre time aint that far away.

I dont agree the senior group will get better you look at the average age of the A grade clops, there is 14 blokes under 25 and in my opinion 26 is the age where as a player you are at your peake,I agree few juniors should be givin a go and have not up to now from what ive heard that is gonna change

Well t/e,Early definately rite man for blooding the kids.I personally just think there are too many big names at Reynella that just dont work hard enough, and u should chase D.Prescott very hard.
