Explanation is that most of the Div 1 clubs have a full compliment of juniors plus are reasonably successful this year and.in the last 3 years.

Div 2 clubs well Morphy Parks, Edwardstown are stiff because they are going well in the As but in my.opinion they dont qualify for Div 1 unless they make more of an effort to get Saturday juniors. Christies do have a full compliment and good on Cratey and the club for building it up this well but i have them in Div 2 based on A grade performances especially this year.

Only 4 of your "Div 1" clubs have full juniors, so your reasoning for Morphy Park & Edwardstown being down conflicts with having CB down.

As for solving the problem of scores, these results would still occur:

Would be good to see us move forward sometime soon and appointing new coach this week on the back of the big Marion win. Too many still looking for someone else to blame for the poor start to the season. Not ideal way to retain playing list.

Attracting 3 more teams, have 10 teams in Div 1 & 8 in Div 2 would be better. Div 2 to have Under 13's 15's and 17's. Might be easier to fill a 17's than an 18's. or have a separate 18's comp.

If their survival in the top division relied upon it, I am sure they would doorknock the entire suburb hunting for the players.

The fact of the matter is most clubs if not all but Towns would of in all likelyhood fielded both grades. Powerhouse junior clubs (Cove + Emus) not fielding a full quota and only 10 teams in 18s and 11 in 16s has to be a cause for concern.

Some people are for change others against but one thing for sure the league has been broken for a very long time - something must be done before it is too late (quality players are already leaving in droves). A change to 15/17 would have been a good start.

Ah the old Glenelg-South merger/takeover. I think the juniors issue got an agreement but the main sticking point was the issue of gate fees, the Glenelg-South clubs did not want to pay to get into grounds and the whole deal fell over.

Flagstaff Hill bit the bullet and joined the SFL in 85, the then Southern Metro FL folded the following year and Marion, Morphettville Park & Plympton joined the SFL anyway as a result entering most of the junior sides required (Marion struggled initially with the juniors).
Blackwood headed off to the Hills, as for the other clubs that held out - Camden got absorbed by Greek first and later Plympton High Old Scholars, Glandore, Ovingham, Salesian & Wingfield Royals have all ended up in that big football league up in the sky. Mitchell Park & Brighton later joined the SFL anyway, Lockleys, Mitcham, Adelaide Lutheran & Colonel Light Gardens seem to have kept going ok albeit in the lower divisions of the Ammos, whilst Brompton, Norwood Union & Goodwood live on in merged entities.

The collapse of the Glenelg South league has benefitted no one except giving the SAAFL additional expansion, contributing to the centralisation of metropolitan football in Adelaide, the resulting imbalance of power within the SACFL, and provided us with a broken hybrid Saturday/Sunday junior system.

Saturdays. Not going to suit everyone (our u18s are severely hampered by college football but still play in the Saturday comp). Flaggies, Reynella, Valley and perhaps a few others will be against the idea. They have huge numbers i understand their concern but is it not the SFL's job to look after the everyone's interests or in this case the majority?

The facts are that the majority of clubs voted for the change to u15/17 - the league for whatever reason decided to overrule it.

Could 15,17s be the requirement for all clubs on a Saturday but still run comps to cater for other age limits on a sunday? I realise it is complicated - no way to keep everyone happy but the SFL clubs should be able to decide their own fate... Where has 15 years with no change got us?
