ASAP

At least with a decent season, you can be in with a chance.

Div 6 teams are 5 years away even being allowed to compete for the premiership, and that would require qualifying for 5 minor grand finals in a row

huh?? sure over 60 clubs and yeah only one gets to win the Div 1 flag

but is whats most important at a club (for me) is the celebration of the community within

Ingle Farm have been Div 6 whipping boys for past few years, and probably has been very dark times for that club

Now look at their 2013 season, and those club members, girlfriends, families, have just had the times of their life with an victorious grand final celebration night - the vibe right now at Ingle Farm is sky high and 2013 will be treasured for decades to come

I doubt anyone there is caring that it wasnt the Div 1 flag  their club achieved the ultimate success - an A-Grade premiership

and to me it seems that SFL clubs care more about gate revenue, than they do bringing home a trophy.

So you'd be happy to win a flag every 2 years yo-yoing between divisions?

Think it's time for you to go back to the Amateur threads, you have nothing to offer here.

Nah, you can keep him

Lesson learnt.

Quite a number of those clubs don't have clubrooms as we know them. They play their games in the parklands or on a school oval and then head to a pub to do 5 minutes of presentations before drifting around town. A bit like playing C or D-Grade cricket, but with less spectators.

Obviously the amatuer league has too many teams to put in one div so of course it has to be spread out into ten team divs. Whether it be div 2 or div 6 it's just a number. It's only a couple of quality players that separates one div to the next. On any given year depending on recruits/departures the top team in div 5/6 would definately challenge if not beat the bottom teams in div 2. I remember a trial game at the start of the year a particular div 6 team (who didn't make the finals might I add) took it up to Christies beach and lead all day up until halfway through the last quarter until they got run over. No system is perfect and I'm a fan of the all day football on Saturdays that the SFL have. But don't bag the teams in the SAAFL or the league itself just because one poster comes on here and tries to stir the pot.

What a stupid, uneducated and naive post. That side would easily account for 10 of the 15 SFL sides and challenge if not beat the others.

I dont know too much about the SFL so forgive my ignorance,

But i have been reading this thread with a lot of interest, Personally i couldnt care less about the debate between whether clubs would be better off in the SFL or in div 1-7 in the amatuer league, As long as the club is healthy and the players/spectators/volounteers are there and enjoying it.

One of the arguments i keep hearing is that in the top sides or there because they have a strong junior program, which seems to work well in the SFL, is there as big a gap in the junior teams as there is in the senior sides?
I'm kind of a big deal, people know me

just had a read last years thoughts
http://www.safooty.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=27700

has a dual conference never been discussed??

for example from the ladder split this years odd finishing sides into the ODD CONFERENCE and those who finished 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th etc etc into the EVENS CONFERENCE

this is the ladder from minor rounds ( i dont know the final placings ie Morphettville actually came 2nd)

anyway the ODDS CONFERENCE....

1st Happy Valley
3rd Morphett Vale
5th Edwardstown
7th Christies Beach
9th Port Noarlunga
11th Flagstaff Hill
13th Marion
15th Osb/Lonsdale

and now the EVENS CONFERENCE...
2nd Reynella
4th Morphettville Park
6th Noarlunga
8th Brighton Bombers 2013
10th Cove
12th Hackham
14th Aldinga
16th BYE (Vacancy for a future side)

FINALS...

the top 4 from each conference play in and 8 team finals major round

WHY:

this ensures a bottom side can finish a maximum 4 spots away from the finals, consequently every club truly has hope and evolution is always reachable

Ask the Reynella A-grade cricketers if there A3 premiership this year was meaningless compared to the footy club....just another uneducated comment from a success starved veggie!

Any player changes at clubs possibly only a few retirements at present which will be hard to replace:

Any other Reynella boys other than Milo pulling the pin?
Is Golding, Comer and Peach going around again at the shoes?
Are Towns losing any with ex-premiership captain Salevic getting the coaching job at Blackwood?
Manhood at Porties to the coaches box, anyone else?

I like you... Unfortunately Kenilworth wouldn't get within 10 goals of Walkerville. I'm very happy to be proven wrong but....

SFL top 8 is a solid comp imo. Still not as good as GSFL and Hills which as I mentioned back even back around 2000 the SFL along with Western Border were the best comps out side Ammos div 1
