Backliner wrote:On a brighter note congrats to the U14's for making the finals, well done. Also the mini's have 90 players for 3 teams and won plenty of games this year with the 4/5's losing 2 games, great work by John Nixon and his committee/coaches, having to make up rosters to allow kids equal game time is an indication of the strength of our mini's, hopefully we can get it right in the next few years when they filter through. Lucky to get in the club for mini's preso's, full house.
Cheers.

I approached the club with this and said id be prepared to do all the work etc, but they didnt want a bar of it, so now i guess its way too late those kids will go to Willunga or Myponga/Sellicks...

We have Every grade for 2010 Under 14, 16, 18 and 2 teams in each grade of the mini's, not sure where you see us struggling? Too many mini's so we are adding teams. Fact.
Also never too late, can always come along to a committee meeting and volunteer your time, let me know and I'll set it up for you.

Mate read my other posts...as i said i made an offer to the club years ago. I was prepared to do all the hard work, and....bringa major (AFL) sponsor with me, all the club had to do was say yes and they didnt.....missed the boat im afraid. Took my offer to a club that appreciated it.

Kelly Lovett Coaches the Aldinga primary school kids, his own included, is regularly at Senior games and I believe may be coaching U14's next year. Danny Wilde has coached his son in the U14's while he was still at Aldinga primary School (been involved with club last 4 years). Two of our junior coaches have been coaching their kids who attend Aldinga primary school.
There is also a Junior sub-committee who also has a representative come to the club meetings (usually John Nixon or Sarah), as well as their own meetings. They fill us in on happenings and give requests etc. They wish to be self sufficient but we also provide money etc when they ask, ie merchandise. They run their own BBQ on sundays. Obviously the senior committee pay the running costs of the club (which their are many - rent, power, gas, insurance, etc).

i agree that there have been and are a number of parents that show dedication towards junior development in the Aldinga area. The club needs to promote itself more at Aldinga school, and retain some of these juniors that choose elsewhere. I understand you can't keep them all though. Things, however may be on the improve with u14's in the finals this year which was a fantastic effort. Time will tell

Isn't it when they go to Willunga High that you lose them to Willunga and McLaren?
