Cove will be giving it a big crack this year. Probably Bombers last season (I could be wrong) so they would want to win it this year. Outstanding midfield with the inclusion of Josh Vick from South Adelaide to join the likes of White and Fudge. Forward line very good with Bomber, Ramsay and Weideman and that little bald bloke. Backline maybe one or two quality players short.

Have seen them play one game in 3 seasons and that was only a trial. So I could be completely off the mark. Any thoughts... are they a realistic premiership contender?

Interesting to see Aldinga have a win. How long is it since their previous win? Would it be a few years now?

Crikey Hackham must be travelling pretty ordinarily!
When I last saw Aldinga play they would have struggled to have beat Noarlunga's C Grade!

Aldinga have a new coach, and almost a new team. They will surprise a few this year.

Cheers for that smithy, the old Div 2 sides seemed to have caught up quite a bit from when they first merged the 2 Divs.

no disrespect hillsrider but aldinga will surprise no-one ........ beating the hawks isnt a very good guide as they are really struggling. EVERY other team will belt them (i hope im wrong). Good win by Cove and they are top 4-5 material but still a few good players below the top 2 (morphett vale, Reynella ) ..... the question is where was the leagues no 1 superstar "bomber" Ryan. Great player and a good bloke too but didnt suit up round 1 and i hope he is still playing ???
Surprised to see flaggies belted and im not sure if it means that they are struggling or Valley are awesome ??? probably a bit of both i suspect ..... Brighton and Noarlunga also won but not by the margins they did last year against the same opposition ....... did the opposition improve or are these 2 powerhouses struggling a tad??

I can help you out on this one. Ryan essentially retired at the end of last season (back problem) however he was coaxed into playing on with a few proviso's. In the SFL, as most in their heart-of-hearts will concede, you really only have to perform in about 8 games thru the minor round to play finals. Expect Ryan to suit for those but not to play against the s**t.

Personally I don't agree with it but I'm not coaching Cove. I can understand the rationale though.

Onkas, Seems to be a big call by saying that bomber wont play against the s--t teams. They were playing porties on the weekendand he didnt play!!! So does that mean that, this is how the cobras rate the divers........... Well all i would have to say is......... how right they were with the cobras having a very easy win!! If bomber was only playing one game for the year i would hope to be there to watch it!! What a champ he is!
Most of the results went according to predictions!! Cant wait for a few upsets! There are a few good games this week.

Noarlunga won comfortably but nothing can be taken from there win or for the next few weeks for that matter with games agianst Morphie parks and Southern Hawks. Still a few first choice players injured or looking at missing half a season so may slide a little and finish 6-4 depending on if these players get fit.

Cove look to have improved further which is good for the comp possibly looking at a top four finish, but again you cant really make to many assumptions this early on can you.

Valley destroted Flagstaff which i think many were thinking to be a little closer, either Valley very strong or flagstaff still developing as a team.

Brighton comfortably over christies.

Morphies v Reynella. wineflys just but apparently morphies had a few out these two will be around the mark.

Marion v Morphie parks closer than some may have expected also either both average or both may push for 8th spot.

Well im off to get the Southern Argus to read the match reports!

I'd reckon (no,that's not right. I know) that the top 5 teams don't rate Porties. When you go down to their ground the only thing missing is a couple of red-headed kids playing banjo's. It is a crying shame too for a once powerful club.
I remember playing in a game against Porties in the early eighties...we got belted by 47 goals and we sang the club song because we thought we'd get done by 50+.
Where they sit now is summed up for me in their former club stalwart/mail medalist SFL Committee Representative (those who follow the league closely will know to whom I am referring). It is truly amazing that a club that could spawn such a cool, urbane, sophisticated , snappy dresser and agile thinker like this person should be in so much trouble....or is that the icy winds of sarcasm I hear?
