sticks and stones mate what has this thread got to do with you are you from townies or part of the SFL? You are a wanker with nothing beter to do that sit behind your computer and talk shit. All you do is bag the SFL and then sook and bag blokes who are trying to talk about something that relates to them when they tell you to piss off. Can you hear that siren, The wanker alert has just gone off and it is pointing straight at you ya clown.

Lol - Girth hit the spell check bloke, also please explain to me how a siren for the 'wanker alert' points?
I bagged you as your support for the fat bastards comments were directed at me you idiot - best you go have a little nap and a nice glass of breast milk...

Lova - do you really visit gayameaturefootylovers websties? Thats kind of weird but whatever floats your boat. The way you and girth follow each other in and out of threads must make you feel popular however your leading the kid astray.

I will repeat for you too toss bags!
Edwardstown players currently in the A'Grade may look to leave the club to play decent footy rather than join the SFL with the club. By this I mean continue playing Div 1! From here you have bought up GSFL etc yet you have both stated previously on the SFL thread that everyone can have an opinion - does that mean only when it agrees with yours?
Grow up boys! This is an open forum where everyone can voice there opinions on everything! You too are not the beholders of the SFL thread and all things SFL. Best you check your actual importance level as you are clearly attempting to bat above your averages.

My simple opinion is that townies may be losing more than they gain from the move, if it were a div 3,4,5 club then I could possibly see why a move would be warranted. Townies have good numbers, coin, junior are in a good division as where a lower division club may not have all those things going for it. End of the day it will all turn out in the wash.

Id be more interested to hear from anyone at Townies on there ideas, thoughts of the move?????

While I don't want to take sides- regardless ofwhat people from each league think- I believe that players would see going to the SFL as taking a step back I have no doubt Edwardstown will lose players and fail to get the quality they have over the last 3 years if they move to SFL

If you're going to start to pick on peoples spelling then how about you look at your grammar and spelling. The word is two. as in one, two, three. Oh I forgot you can't count past one. there's only one person that's trying to bat above their average here.

I at no time said it was a good or bad move by townies just stated that SFL was Decent footy. End of story.

grow up boys - this is nominally a forum to discuss football issues and matters rather than an opening for puerile sledging. we can disagree without personal attacks. :)
there are have valid points; the level of the SFL may be better than some believe and moving leagues may cause some players to leave edwardstown so that they can continue playing saafl a grade.
the real question to me is whether its is actually happening; if so, why hasn't the board sounded out the players (like huddo) to find out what they think of the proposed move? if so, doesn't this smack of a belief that the players are fairly disposable within the club structure?

Finn good points there on all fronts.
Possibly what started all of this was a simple discussion between an Edwardstons person and other, from there it has blown out of proportion which is why players etc are not aware.
As I said I will believe when I see it.

Lova - its up and down not down and up... but you got me good.... best stop now, your clearly embarrassing yourself.

It is believed that the A Grade coach brought the President along to a whole day of footy on a Sunday (MVFC vs RFC) or a Saturday game when Edwardstown weren't playing early in the year to see what a day at the footy was like with juniors playing before the seniors and the atmosphere it created. From there it has been moving to get things happening for Edwardstown to be apart of that.

So we will see what happens from here.

I seen paperwork lastnight saying that the 9 members present agreed to the recomendations of the specially appointed sub committee.
some of the recomendations were
approve edwardstown joining the sfl
the sfl agrees in writing to improving the competitiveness of the sfl
thats the main point of it.
Im sure there are some edwardstown people out there who have seen this.... any thoughts??

Was there anything else that needed to be done? is there going to be a vote taken to the members or will it go straight through?

it has been accepted in principle by the members present at the board meeting.
It then ran through the recomendations
who was in the sub committee for the EFC
and why they made the decision.
To me reading the EFC paperwork, they will be in the sfl next year as long as the sfl agrees with the EFC terms.

The SFL has been quoted in local papers over the past 2-3 years they aim to improve the over all competition but realistically they have gone no where. When was the last upset??Not a crappy one with like OSB/Lons beating Porties .I mean like a side out of the top 5-6 beating a side in that top 5-6?? (Do you think the league has major issues when the major talking point of the round is that the OSB/Lons were up at half time but HELLO THEY STILL GOT TOUCHED UP BY 9 GOALS) What are Edwardstown going to do if the competitiveness does not improve, come back to amateurs??As if the Amateurs would take them back if they turned their back on them (another Brighton). If they did go good luck to them and I hope the SFL does get back to the eveness it needs I really do,but can not see it happening before (at least) 1 or 2 clubs either fold or go in other leagues.

I have heard rumours that club fees they pay to the league are substantially less in SFL than SAAFL? Something like $22000 SAAFL/ $9000 SFL.
I definitely think that players will leave the towns if they move but they may gain others who have already played in the SFL and think that the SFL is still a decent comp. i think it is still a decent comp.
I have never played A1's but have seen a few A1 games, I have only played A grade in the SFL and HFL. I don’t think anyone could really know which league is better unless they have played in both leagues.
Clubs in the SFL will definitely be folding in the next few years becasue their junior programs are failing and the league has told them if they dont shape up they are out or will have to merge. OSB Lions wont have an oval in two years/hackham have got an oval........ 10 team Div 1 comp in the SFL will be competitive down to the bottom.

Another rumour is Morphettville Parks will go the amatuers next year starting at Div6 or something.

That’s my two bob worth.

On pretty good authority that that the SAAFL are tentative to accept any SFL clubs as if they let 1 in they would have to say yes to the rest that would want to follow. That would almost tear the SFL a new a*** hole and demorilise the league. What are other leagues the SAAFL have destroyed over the years?? I can think of Glenelg South and SAFA but there are numerous ones out north aswell........

I have just heard a rumor that Edwardstown and Plympton might be going to the SFL? That will make 16 teams in all and help create a top division of 8 teams and a lower division of 8 teams. Has anyone heard of this that they can confirm or deny?

Plympton, your joking arent you..........fair dinkum didnt they get banned from the SFL because some of their faithful vandalised SFL house and they were told they can not return to the SFL unless it is payed for (Do not know if that is true, what I have heard). Why the hell would a mid-table div 5 side leave the SAAFL and go get annhialated by top SFL teams. Your sources must be smoking some good s##t
