A good topic to start the next 1000 might be the tournament being held at South on Feb 28. A bit of a cocky move by cove to enter a tournament with bottom to middle placed sides from last year. Obviously they think its going to be an easy earnt $1000. I heard a rumour that they were only going to play their under 18's. Nice way to get your junior side knocked around by seniors just before season!

You are a D/head, Cove is cocky what kind of stupid comment is that. They like everybody else want match practice, The opportunity is there for them to blood youngsters against senior footballers in a shortened version of the game.

It would be better if cove enter their A grade squad into the tournament that way Aldinga can play against the top team and see how far off the mark they are in 2009 and assess what areas need to be worked on before round 1. No better way to do that then a
30 minute game against a great side.

Maybe Cove are putting back into local football, maybe they didn't want the full senior side to play but thought the concept was a good idea, shame other clubs didn't volunteer to play, Sth Adelaide get bagged a bit but at least they are trying new things.

Agreed backy and to be honest i highly doubt that playing against cove U18's will be any easier than playing the A grade. much more run and gun with maybe a little less experience and skill. Overall probably a good gesture from cove but unfortunate for any1 put in the same pool for the first round. Well done souths for raising community profile.

You're right buddha it is a great idea and it is good to see souths putting together a tournament like this. It gives local league clubs a chance to have a run on a SANFL ground and also is great for working relationship between a SANFL side and local footy. Cove's under 18's will be my no means an easy side because they are younger, as you said buddha they will most likely be a faster side than their seniors.
Good observation by hackam hawks 3 on most of these sides being middle to bottom sides LAST year, obviously not everyone was able to pick up on that. I'm sure most of the sides playing will suprise their opponents on how far they have come from last year.

Playing against the 18's will be a great test to see how fit the sharks are. GO YOU SHARKS

Our average age is probably early 20's, so should be plenty of fresh legs running around, I know of a trial against SMOSH - St Michaels and also Goolwa but not heard of CLG yet, Eagleman 22 might be best to respond though.

All looking good at the moment, plenty of guys keen for a crack Saturday.
