Waterboy - the KNTFL is a pretty decent standard of competition. They usually flog the Mid South East League in rep matches but don't get to play the Western Border League very much because of the WBFL's affiliation to the VCFL.

The KNTFL would give the WBFL a good run for their money, though I would suspect that the Border boys would win by 4-5 goals most times.

$500 on Cove, they are the team to beat this year i reckon.

Lonsdale wont be able to match up their key forwards and onballers.

Wazza hasn't played for a few years, more like 5-6, did become a trainer for a few years, then came out and umpired B's for a year or two then has been elevated to A grade. In my opinion he would in no way have favoured his old side. Seen him umpire many games now and rate him highly. If we had more ex-player umpires the game would be in a better position than it is currently. Last year was good for retired players donning the whites (Black (marion) and Clifton (Noarlunga/Hackham). The more the merrier i say.
It would be good to see more retired players umpiring in the league but do you really think it's fair to get them to umpire their former clubs? Honestly, to say there wouldn't be any bias calls is just incredibly naive. Think about it, Yeah Lonsdale ONLY lost by 5 points but that umpire and in turn the league (for having Wazza umpire this game) could have been the difference in the end with the margin being so close. And from what i hear it was pretty bad?

Flaggy Oval is perfect at the moment. With the new drainage system, based on the one used at Footy Park, the water doesnt settle on the oval at all. If it doesnt rain on Saturday, it will be just like playing a normal dry weather day, which could be trouble for Aldinga!

You think that key forwards are overlooked by the umpires Pavlova?? Interesting thought. I saw that pollard kicked 1 short of a dozen against reynella yet the ANZAC medal was given to Tim Howell (onballer) Did the umpires do the voting for BOG that day??

Tim Howel played well that game dunno if he deserved BOG but he played good enough for a look.

when is the night game between Noarlunga V marion?
I agree totally TV. Tim Howel did have a good game and yes the umpires do vote for BOG and anzac medal.
And although forwards do need good footy coming down to them. you would have to be stiff to kick 11 against quality opposition and not get BOG. I saw he got best for his team in the sunday mail tho.

Maybe there is something to that theory Swooper. Cant wait to have a look at this years mail medal and see where the leading goal kickers (ie key forwards) rank. You would think If a key forward kicks upward of 100 goals they mite be around the mark. (ie Bomber Ryan a few years back.)

Certainly an interesting topic tho. Any other thoughts?
I started my careeer as an onballer moved to half back in my 30's and finished my days in the B's at FF....yes you do need good footy coming in....but the team depend on the FF to do his job...and if he does his as well as the suppliers, he should be rewarded.playing there gave me a greater respect for FF's. perticularly when the ball is NOT delivered well.........coped some of my worst injuries at FF. people are quicj tp blame poor finishing on FF's but when they do kick a bag...they have "done their job"

Marion at $1.70 worth a sniff.

80 point start may be enough to sneak in Smackham.

Finally, if the weather is dry, Cove at 1.18 is an absolute Monty.

Great work Petoe...
