I agree LK Ive heard from reliable sources that He certainly is a handy pick-up for the Emus.....Like they need anymore.

Yeah howell definately played well but you would think 11 sausage rolls would be good enough for the 3 votes and adds some fuel to the argument that many of the top forwards in SFL are overlooked in the voting. mind you i think it should be up to the coaches at the end of the game to vote and the umpires should just concentrate on doing their job rather then focusing on whose playing well....especially at amateur level.

when is the night game between Noarlunga V marion?

I agree totally TV. Tim Howel did have a good game and yes the umpires do vote for BOG and anzac medal.
And although forwards do need good footy coming down to them. you would have to be stiff to kick 11 against quality opposition and not get BOG. I saw he got best for his team in the sunday mail tho.

Maybe there is something to that theory Swooper. Cant wait to have a look at this years mail medal and see where the leading goal kickers (ie key forwards) rank. You would think If a key forward kicks upward of 100 goals they mite be around the mark. (ie Bomber Ryan a few years back.)

Certainly an interesting topic tho. Any other thoughts?

What about backman who do a number on a key forward such as Pollard..If a full back kept Pollard goaless would he get any votes ? I doubt it....

night at their club never has been a game for the fullback.did tim howell
snag a league game last year or was he just in the 2's?

Taking no shine from the prestige of the medal, how accurate are these blokes in the white anyway. There have certainly been some deserving winners but also some when you just have to scratch your head, i posted earlier that i rate Bachman as a player but when you win as many games as they did and endure several heafty loses how can you win a medal..?? We must play with the cards we are dealt. In summary, these cards more often than not fall to the on ball brigade... Key forwards, don't hold your breath...

Yeh that Pat Walton played well on the weekend but after seeing flaggies i doubt that they'd improve much from last year if anything they maybe abit off the mark the set last year not sure if it was just the conditions but if they struggle then i doubt that he'd poll to well.

Yes it is a tough gig for the umpires tho having to worry about decisions and whats going and trying to notice whos playing well. I know that last year in the 18s comp a saw the votes for each game and some of the umpires picks where very questionable it seemed that they may had got players mixed up a number of times

Can any of the lions or saints confirm the A grade game was umpired by christies club life member wazza ??? He played at the saints up until a couple of years ago and apparently was a 19th man on the field for the saints......blatantly cheated to get the saints over the line on saturday???

If so this is very poor form. Surely the league wouldnt let recently retired club stalwarts umpire their own team??

Still yet to see Sweeny or paddlepop lion don the boots??? What is going on with these 2 clowns lion supporters??

As per programme SFL Vs KTNFL
Just checked country footy website, believe is Kowree, Tatiara, Naracoorte League
(Teams: Border Dists, Bordertown, Kaniva/Leeor, Keith, Kingston, Kybybolite, Lucindale, Mundulla, Naracoorte, Padthaway & Penola)

Both Leon and Sweeney played Bs against Christies.

Yep, Wazza umpired the Christies/OSBLFC game. Long time player and was a trainer at Christies until only a couple of years ago.

KNTFL is Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara league. No idea how strong they are, but the South East zone have given Southern a few tough games over the last few years of country championships.

Good call Legend Killer I agree totally. I think most who have commented are on the same page. its just a good forum to see what others think of the glorious medal. In my opinion theres only one type of medal that counts and its the reason we all play/played for........

Wazza hasn't played for a few years, more like 5-6, did become a trainer for a few years, then came out and umpired B's for a year or two then has been elevated to A grade. In my opinion he would in no way have favoured his old side. Seen him umpire many games now and rate him highly. If we had more ex-player umpires the game would be in a better position than it is currently. Last year was good for retired players donning the whites (Black (marion) and Clifton (Noarlunga/Hackham). The more the merrier i say.
