Most definetely...but what a waste of resources and time having to attend a tribunal...

as you said earlier sounds like an over protective dad and a club with too much spare time

Someone told me that the umpire paid a 50m penalty against the brighton player? Sounds weird if it was a fair bump?

even so cheech no report was made cant have been too much in it maybe a little late to a marking contest how many times have we seen that and a 50 is paid but not a report. i am only guessing cause im not involved with either club but it seems a bit queer to me :?

I understand what your saying - but I have seen plenty of incidents that should have been reported that the umpire has turned a blind eye to - like I said before the umpires dont always get things right. I guess its just a duty of care thing - I heard he went to hospital with possible spinal injuries? If the league lets this sort of thing go - it will happen again and next time the person may not be so lucky!! I know if I'm going for the ball, I want my head to be protected by the umpire, in the end this is just a game and not worth ending up in a wheel chair for!! But who knows unless you were there? Or someone posts the video footage on the internet for us? :)

Agree that the umpire doesn't always get it right.....but as i said, that is why there are 3rd umpires now at the games and SFL officials.....If we leave it to the clubs to determine if an incident warrants a report (regardless of an injury - remember it is a physical game) then we are opening it up to slaughter...teams will be video taping every bloody game and can you imagine the impact leading into finals.....also the disruption for clubs and players to attend a tribunal is a pain in the arse....

If people end up taping every game who cares - players safety should be paramount. Imagine worst case scenario and someone died, it wouldnt not only be a devasting loss and damage the clubs involved, but could cripple the a league in terms of liability insurance, it may even become too expensive to run the league - Easy to say I'm over reacting but the harsh reality is that this could happen? Everyone should be doing what they can from preventing possible life threating injuries from occuring on the field, and if someone thinks this is a way of preventing it happening again, good luck to them! I'm a bit of a pesimistic person aren't I..... oh well its just my opinion. League will probably do nothing right?

Cove yes, i think Flaggies will improve again this year, which is good to see
Lonsdale over Christies by a similar margin (Tony Meekins without doubt worst coach in the league)
Shoes v Cockle divers - who cares (shoe be some punch ups though)
Reynella yes
Vikings by 50 goals
Brighton yes
Emus yes, although the rain might slow scoring rates down a little.

Mole, i see you say you don't rate Ando and thats fair enough you have your opinion, sources close to Cove say they were not that sad to see there former coach leave. He was more of a motivator and ranting coach rather than a teacher and game plan based coach. He would say we got to win and we gotta do this but never actually tell the players how to do it. There list should of beaten reynella in last years prelim and the sources say they were happy he left as they couldn't sack him due to results but they were keen to get a "coach" in that could give them a game plan to win prelim and grand finals.
Ando has full support of his players......there saying they are learning more now than they ever have and he has turned players and structures around. They will start slow and come home with a sail i have been told. 8 - 9 new faces a new coach and plan and 4 players in the wings there hoping to have up and running by mid year including white, schimanski and padroth.... They will be better than last year

Exactly - but need another 2 teams don't we??
No teams are in a hurry to join the comp to be pumped by M/vale, Cove and Brighton.

Anyway...
Cove V FHFC - Cove between 5-10 goals
Christies V Lonsdale - I reckon Christies in a close one.
Noarl V Pt.Noar - Sticking with Porties in a close one!
Reynella V Marion - Reynella by 5-10 goals
Valley V Hackham - How many goals can be kicked in 25 min x4 + time on?
Brighton v Morphie Pk. - Bombers by 30 goals
Emus's V Sharks - How many goals can be kicked in 25 min x4 + time on?

Hando is obviously a good coach, very good with his plans and structures, but i dont see him as a great motivator. I dont rate him as much as there old coach, who put in all the hard yards and really turned the team and the club around!!
Maybe he didnt have the full backing in the end and it showed up in there prelim final losses.
A change is as good as a holiday. Cove definately have the players to win it! But we will see!

Need 2 teams...

Postby Sherrin » Tue Apr 24, 2007 5:05 pm

Would a simple solution to the 8/8 2 Div comp format not be to pinch both of Blackwood's sides from the Hills?

Its a little hard after one round to judge who is exactly going where. Once everyone has played each other once it will become alot clearer who the top 3-4 teams are. Doesnt appear Morphies have been significantly weakened. Other then that will have to wait until some of these stronger clubs play each to see who are the real deal for 07.

Seems like Cove and Vikings are 2 teams to look out for and would be intersted to see how they go when they come up against each other. Porties and Shoes sound like they are in for a tough year.
