Does anyone ever wonder if the sharks had beaten kangy in 99', would there still have been a mass exodus?

I don't think those are the 2 to ask for a non-Aldinga perspective of the day.

He marked in the goalsquare, lining up for his 50th of the year, we had all the momentum, he heard the call "hands", he handballed, they ran the ball out, the game turned. Who handballs from the goalsquare? he hasn't since.

Nope, strike that, it was Jared Kurtz. Went to Willunga with his head in shame the year after that blunder and now plays at Morphett Vale.

Can anyone confirm Jared is having a kick again in 09 for the emus?

I sense he may cop some retro-sledging!

I don't think it was as bad as a mass exodus, from memory it was only 3 - 5 that went to willunga, Adam Carnevale was asked by South to play is a better comp than div 2 SFL, thats why he went. A couple of blokes retired including Robbie van, and for a handful of guys including Col Masters, Tony Strachen and Nathan Goad, their best football was probably already behind them, so they weren't going to improve.

Centreman, Ruck rover, 2 Wingman, Full back, CHF. (and thats not the retirees). If thats not a mass exodus i'm really not sure what is. Goads left cos his mates did. He still had many a goal left in that booming left boot.
Bit hard to believe they appointed Bronte Fish that year and he took them from outta the finals to within 10 points of a premiership...... and then was given the flick. hmmm???

I'm not saying that what I'm saying is entirely correct as is was 8 or so years ago and I'm getting on a bit. I said 3-5 coa the only ones i could think of were Carnas, Kurtz and Thommason. Still not sure whoelse you are talking about as it wasn't until a couple of years later that Portlock, Minke and Judd left. Not sure who the ruckman you are talking that went to willunga is as the only ruckman i can think of in 99 was Robbie van, he rucked all day 99% of the time.
Goads did play in 2000, probably only played a handful of games due to knee and hamstring injuries, had a year off then played again 2002.
