Morphy's with no foward, what happen to Michael Thomas heard he was going to either Ironbank or Maccesfeild chasing the $$$$$, he kicked a few goals for them last year.

Which game did you play in VC ?

definately boss, still be a long way off! morphies need forwards yes, but they need guys to get it to them first which has been a huge problem for them over the past several yrs. i personally think a big problem for them is these old guys ( no names) still playing on the ball might be getting alot of touches through the centre, but around the ground there players r givin them a bath. they might get in the best for morphies, but there opposition player is gettin best on ground too and they're winnin by 15+goals.
i heard thomas signed at macci last week, not on as much coin as wat morphys through at him ive heard though.

no idea mate... wouldnt be heaps id imagine

How much money did they through at Michael Thomas?

Morphy's didn't offer Michael Thomas anything - he made it very clear at the end of last year that he was looking to play elsewhere, and didn't even speak with them about season 2007. He's playing in the hills with Maccy - not because of big money, but because his brother (although injured) is involved up there.

croc11 wrote:You just don't see Morphett Vale, Reynella, Happy Valley and Brighton throwing money at the Thomases and other players of this ilk of the footy world. Throw in Cove now in this mix as well. It is just stupid and really short sighted to offer these lads the coin they are seeking. It is the club's fault for doing this and whilst Morphy Park for example are trying to be competitive, we all know that they have thrown money at some lads who can't make Ressies for one of the bottom league clubs. And the money is around the $150+ mark. Now this club will come back and say rubbish - but we all know that this is the case because we have all been talking to the same sort of players....And there is no angst from many of us in missing out on these lads, because you are never going to offer these lads that money. So once again clubs try and buy their way out of the Bottom couple, but when it doesn't work, you end up pushing the proverbial uphill and we have the same old arguments once again. Until clubs realise that if you don't have a quality junior system and other decent structures in place, then you should be looking at other options for your club ie. lower levels of Amateur league where you can be competitive. Let's face the reality - will Aldinga, Hackham, Morphett Vale and Lonsdale ever challenge for a Premiership. Certainly in the next 10 years - you would say NO CHANCE - so if your charter is to be the best club that you can aspire to, then you are letting the whole club down (members, supporters and players) and why would you really persist if you know that you are only ever going to make a final 8 once in a blue moon as well. You may well get a really decent crop of players for a short while because they may enjoy this for 1-2 years, but if there is no success forthcoming, then all of these players will leave on mass and guess what - you get 40 goal drubbings once again. Anyway - this is my take on the footy world. $$$$ are always welcome to a footy club, but if you want to give players $$$ then they would want to be match winners. Otherwise why waste the coin when you could spread it around and give to the loyal kids who want success for your club.
Croc I agree with you clubs like Morphy parks and Marion would be better served in the amateur league where they can start in Div 7 and work their way up without having to spend big dollars.
