Layne is very well respected in the SFL and has a great record coaching junior and senior grades. He will also take an assistants role with the A grade. This will be the first time the Roos have had an under 18’s team in many years and the club is very excited to have Layne in charge. All new players are welcome. Please contact the club for details.

Not sure about a great record coaching in the SFL. Wasn't he the guy that lost the U18 Grand Final with Cove. They were top all year and lost. Most observers that day put it down to poor coaching. If he couldn't get a top side across the line, what is he going to do with a new developing side?

Pretty sure he was an assistant when the Cobras won the A's a few years back?

Didn't Cove get awarded the premiership due to a disqualification that year??

Plenty of good coaches have lost grand finals, so we didn't judge him by one game. Dosen't really matter, everyone has there own opinions on people and the way they coach, Morphy Parks are more than happy to have him on board.

Great appointment. Tremma was an ex team mate of mine and a quality bloke too.
Well done mate, you'll do well.

get used to people having a crack.. plympton didnt give ben porter a interview (good decision imo) last season and we copped alot of flack from people who have no idea why the powers that be make these decisions.

IMO some clubs can show too much due diligence and in turn miss out on the right coach for their club. Sometimes word of mouth and inuendo can be the undoing of a good coach also. Normally those opinions come from people who have no idea and have not performed in those areas as well.

Agree. Wub12 how many times have you spoken to Porter or seen him coach? Because some keyboard warriors don't like him does that stain your opinion? Thought you would be the first person to ignore garbage on here after some of the trashing you have received in the past.....

Is this fact or rumor?
Whats his history?
Who is he?
Were is he from?
Etc?
Btp any info?

Fact. Ben is a premiership player and life member of the H Valley FC. He has coached juniors at HV, juniors and reserves at West Adelaide and more recently has coached Mt Lofty's A Grade for 4 years. The MVFC is extremely excited to have Ben on board for 2012.

He's not going to miss the travelling to Mt Lofty two nights a week plus weekends. From a selfish personal POV I would have liked to see him return to coach the club he started his junior career at. He will eventually return to the Vikings IMO. Goodluck Colesy.

How did you feel about who that committee did end up appointing??

I know alls well that ends well and it says a lot about the playing group to get the result they did after their start to the year, but surely it is still embarrassing for those involved in the selection process. From all reports it was common knowledge the guy appointed had some prior history.

when he was appointed i was fine about it. i wasnt aware of any issues that may arise. but i cant speak for the committee, but im pretty sure when they appointed him they thought the same thing.

i wouldnt think they would be embarressed, more annoyed then anything else. again i cant speak for the committee. because of my above comments. but as you said it did end well, and thats full credit to the players, and yes the committee to giving Shane Sinclair the seniors job. And to shanes credit he did a fantastic job to bring the players together.

It's not bagging him. But you also know nothing about the man besides heresay! Every applicant should have an interview at this level. And considering the twat the committee ended up appointing. I find it amazing that you were happy with that. in saying that, well done on the flag! :?

I'm sure he'll do well. Watched him with Cove U18's against EFC three times in 2010. Played against MVFC U18's three times. I know which of the two coaches I'd like trying to build a new team. Also was one of the few U18 coaches from 2010 that was happy to lend EFC players when we were short.

There is no doubting his ability to coach sides that are winning, it is whether he is able to coach under pressure when it counts?

Also the temper tantrums off the field are seen to be believed.
