Obviously not much interest in this competition at the moment but there will be soon enough when Liverpool and Man City enter
Clubs to have already qualified for the knockout phase:
Tottenham
Beskitas
FC Red Bull Salzburg
Celtic
Dynamo Moscow
Inter Milan
Everton
Vfl Wolfsburg
Dynamo Kiev
Fiorentina
Legia Warsaw
There might be others but they are the clear qualifiers so far

Will be no interest even if Shiteh and Liverpool enter it, both will play their B grade sides and treat it with the respect it deserves. The old Cup Winners Cup meant something and was special in a way, the Europa is just a money making grab to see who the best middle of the road side in Europe is

Agreed. Wish Spurs didn't bother to get through. The only carrot is a Champions League place for next season but for the other 31 who get through to the knockout phase, it's just one big waste of time, money and effort.

its only a second rate competition anyway... just champions league qualification on the table for the winner isn't it?

They have added that this year to try and make it more appealing.
No doubt its more appealing for the clubs with no hope of direct qualification but for sides around the mark in their domestic leagues its still a time wasting effort.
I personally dont see the appeal in a comp that basically decides who the best middle of the table side in Europe is.

Absolutely bottled it! Should have been further ahead at the break, but lucky Sevilla only scored 3 in the second half. Downhill skiers away from Anfield.

Liverpool should of had 2 stone cold pens in the first half. Was like Sevilla had 3 keepers out there with defenders using their hands constantly

Yep shithouse non-calls ... Denying them a goal for offside and then overturning the decision after Sevilla complaints was odd too (can't whinge about it, because it shouldn't have been OS in the first place). In fact we can't whinge about any of the refereeing because we were just that poor in the 2nd half and thoroughly destroyed.
Most disappointed I can ever remember being at a Liverpool performance.

couldnt find anywhere else to post this. I see big Ange won this trophy with the Spurs overnight.
I have no idea about soccer so can someone explain it to me in AFL terms this victory?

Top 4 in most leagues gets you into Champions League, they all want to win that.
Top 6 gets you into Europa.
They're 17th of 20 in the Premier League.
They won AFLX I think.

Thanks mate, thats the thought I had but the way they are celebrating you think they won the league.
Ange even said in the media after that they sacrificed the league to win this trophy so it must mean a bit over there

They haven't won anything for 20 years. Winning this gets them into the next Champions League which just means money and more money.
