Heard about this today on the radio... obviously not even close to World Cup status but still international football...

However, I noticed this...

The tournament will be held in January 2015 and played in stadiums selected from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and the Gold Coast.

and this...

Lowy said he wanted to thank the Federal Government as well as the governments of Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and Victoria for supporting the bid

Did the SA Govt not support it, or are our grounds just not up to scratch? A bit disappointing as I would've loved to watch the socceroos here in Adelaide...

This is for everyone that is supporting adelaide oval redevelopment. We will NEVER get a major soccer match in sa until we get a purpose built stadium. The new ao still will not suit fifa requirements. We will have to get used to it.

Something is deadset wrong with our state when Canberra are able to host something like this and we can't.

I might head up to the Gold Coast, at least you'll know you'll get a seat, if A-League crowds are anything to go by.

Eastern states forget about the rest of the Australia. How can we support the team when they dont want to use the whole of the country?

Eastern states are being used to cut travel and costs I believe with majority of the games being played in the sydney district. Adelaide does not have a sutible stadium as Hindmarsh is to small and does not have the apporopiate media facilities. As I have said a lonfg time why can'y the goverment build aami park style stadium and sell off hindmarsh.
