Hasnt got much press here but the latest report has FIFA giving the green light to hold the qatar wc in january. A spokesman said that due to the extreme heat it would be impossible to stage the event in its normal slot so jan/feb would be more suitable. When asked about leagues being postponed the answer given was that most in europe shut down over winter anyway and that you can see by the postponements in england this year that the epl should also consider stopping over winter. He also stated we should see a better wc because players will be mid season and near their peak performance/fitness.
So once again fifa have bent over for the arabs

not surprised. another couple of million to sepp and you can almost bank on qatar winning the thing. Beyond a joke now.

Latest news here Jim is that the idea has been quashed as the Europeans aren't happy that it will **** up the league programme. UEFA apparently still has some voice, but it is more likely that the threat of the big European footballing countries might not turn up has something to do with it.

Stupid idea in the first place the FIFA knew what temperatures were like in Qatar so **** em.

with teh higher temps it will just give the players more reason to faint on the field. although arent the stadiums going to be air conditioned

No fifa are moving it to jan to avoid the high temps
