Forget Australia, no chance.
Yes, Frank, in 2022 the population of Asia will be larger than elsewhere and the elite of Asia will have the $$$$ but the likes of Sony, Hyundai and Addidas don't want to market to the bastards who make their products for $2 a day they want to market it to those who will buy their products - US and Europe. How many Asians have VISA cards compared to Europeans and people from the Americas??? Where do Emirates want the cup to be? The only FIFA partner who wouldn't really care about it being in OZ would be Coke.
Given that NBC lost 760 Mill from the 2000 Olympic TV rights - it is not hard to see why we have been rated fifth out of the five nations for 2022 when it comes to revenue, ticketet sales and marketability.
Money talks and the FIFA executive are fluent in it, as BBC's Panorama showed....

Watched the Bid last night, thought it was a bit ametuerish didnt have much polish to it, cringed a few times including when Hoges presented himself, is that how he paid off his tax debt to the country?
Really hope we get it obviously but dont have a good feeling.
I would hope FIFA would know they wont make the $$$ in Australia, but wouldnt have thought the next world cup in Brazil would be considered a wealthy tournament.
There comes a time when its more important than the $$.
Brazil > England > Australia > US > Europe seems a pretty fair schedule for the next 5 cups

People are bagging the presentation done by Australia a bit by the looks of things.
I must admit the stuff I've seen looked a bit cringworthy, but I think you have to consider the target market to be honest. The Europeans lap up that stereotypical Aussie stuff.
I am quietly confident actually, I reckon we might just jag it.

Australia had Frank Lowy and... Elle Macpherson.
The US had Morgan Freeman, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
Still, apparently Claudia Schiffer helped Germany secure the 2006 cup:

My thoughts
We were steared away from bidding for 2018 so all the eggs are in 2022 for a good reason.
The reports from american media about the money lost are leaked on purpose as they are competing against us - lets hope that has made people jump ship of them !!!
Fingers crossed !!!

Only steared away because 2018 was always going to go to a European nation. Every 2nd world cup has been held in Europe so after one in Africa and one in South America there was no way the powerful European bloc at FIFA was going to let the World Cup go anywhere else.

Say what??
A population of 193 Million soccer nuts, Large cheap labour force for building new stadia, siginificant established soccer infrastructure only three hours behind GMT. So three games comencing 2hrs apart starting at 3 pm Rio time can be broadcast prime-time into Europe.
Absolute marketers delight - FIFA are printing money as we speak.
Just one of the advantages of the USA bid - games can start in the afternoon and be broadcast prime-time back into Europe
