Things u dont like about soccer!

Postby duncs7 » Mon Jun 26, 2006 8:15 pm

Im loving the world cup at the moment but one thing that pisses me of about soccer is that a player does something brilliant and gets an awesome pass in to set up an easy shot at goal, the player that just finishes off the great work of another runs off alone and acts like he has just done all the work and is a superstar and doesnt recognise the assist. In our football, the assistor is the one the goalkicker goes to and gets the adulation from teammates.
Just pisses me off to no end.
What dont u like about soccer?

1) The A-League, hate it, artificial made up non profitable clubs
2) People who have called the game Soccer for 50 years in this country now wanting to callit football, stupid.
3) Dives
4) Slow defensive games
5) Bad refereeing
6) The Us against Them Chip on Shoulder mentality that a lot of soccer fans have
7) Backwards/sideways play, if I wanted to watch that I'd watch Geelong in the AFL
8) Over protection of the goalkeepers 95% of the time
9) Melodramatic players and coaches
10) Bandwagon supporters (how many **** games of soccer had the bloody Fanatics been to before the World Cup?)
11) More violence off field than on it!
12) Gay names (United, Roar, Bling, Victory, Glory, etc, etc)
13) Cost of national soccer tops when they're virtually on Tshirts
14) So many players growing up and living in one country for 20 years but allowed to play for other countries, WTF?

They're some that come to mind, besides those its probably not a bad game.

vae da mihi veniam vitae

Well pardon me for living

Australin football was invented (codefied in 1858), Association football (soccer) codefied in 1863.

Marn Grook palyed 20 000 years ago, the Incas played their game 10 000 years ago,

We invented it first, the name Football is ours, Soccer is the other game - Ignoramus

You can't change history only shape it.....

It's only going to get bigger...? You have to change with the times. Adapt.... Make it your friend... Its a sport.... Your kids will

be playing it...? Aussie Rules would be worried......! We will become the minority if Soccer is managed correctly....! But I

doubt if the management is in place to take advantage....? Too many greedy bastards in charge of this sport that only think of

themselves......! History has already spoken for this sport and let it down...!!!!!

So what your saying is that soccor in Australia is run pretty much the same way that the AFL admin run AFL.

Pfft, my daugher players netball and my son plays soccer, neither have even considered playing soccer. My son actually thinks its a girls game like netball as more girls play it at his primary school than boys!

Its a myth thats ever going to take over real football unless 500 years in the future the best players stay here.
Each A-League club made a loss last year up to 10 million dollars, it'll remain big overseas and people will continue to follow it overseas and the soceroos but while there's a sub standard artificial non profit making competition here the majority won't give a rats.

Ironically I'd still be following the game here if the NSL still was going.
My step dad was born in Europe 60 odd years ago, its been SOCCER in Australia for 60 years and he continues to call it soccer as do and should all traditional followers of the sport, don't fall for this "football" crap, its just invented by the latest generation that have a chip on their shoulder bigger than Ronaldo.

Just because we made the 2nd round some morons think its going to take off big, hell the Americas Cup was HUGE when we won in 1983 but I don't one person that went out and bought a yacht or started sitting on the jettys watching yacht races after it.

i dont really think afl will be worried partly because thats where all the money is and where all the talent will go, secondly because in 4 months the soccer bandwaggon will be on the backlawn, mounted on bricks. (thats not to say i didn't jump on the bandwaggon 110%, now im getting off :P)

wont really know how much the bandwagon will slow down until the A-league starts up again in a couple of months, there may just be enough people that stay on to sell out Hindmarsh each week, which considering its only really the start, wouldnt be a very promising thing.

Thing that irks me is when a player gets hacked and gets
awarded a penalty....only to be taken by a different player, why ?

The only highlights are on a pole.
