So, 4 English sides in the Eufa draw tomorrow.

Spurs
Portsmouth
Man Citeh
Aston Villa

I'm tipping a Spurs v AC Milan Final, but of course it all depends on the Champions League dropouts.

Could be an all Mersey deby in the UEFA, unless Pool can lift their game

Some ups and some downs for UK clubs tonight

Thanks to Sport365

Round Up

Tottenham battled their way through to the UEFA Cup group stages with a nervy 3-2 aggregate victory over Polish champions Wisla Krakow.
Arkadiusz Glowacki diverted Gareth Bale's teasing cross into his own net just before the hour mark at Stadion Wisly to extend Spurs' lead from the first leg, but Pawel Brozek's late strike set up a tense finale.
Spurs may be bottom of the Premier League in their worst start for 53 years - but head coach Juande Ramos is a UEFA Cup specialist and they clung on to their slender lead.
They now face Hull at the weekend looking for their first league win, before the draw for the group stages is made next Tuesday.

Everton's sorry start to the season continued as David Moyes' side crashed out of their second cup competition in the space of eight days with a 2-1 defeat at Standard Liege.
After being dumped out of the Carling Cup last Wednesday by Blackburn, Everton's UEFA Cup hopes have also now ended at the first hurdle.
A far-post tap-in from Axel Witsel gave the Belgian side the lead and, although Phil Jagielka gave the Toffees hope, Milan Jovanovic grabbed the winner from the spot after being bundled over by Leighton Baines to secure a 4-3 aggregate win for the Belgians.

Goals from Elano and Shaun Wright-Phillips steered Manchester City into the group stages of the UEFA Cup with a 2-1 win over AC Omonia securing a 4-2 aggregate triumph.
Elano made the breakthrough in the 48th minute and Wright-Phillips extended their lead seven minutes later. City though had to show their mettle against AC Omonia, who pulled a goal back with 12 minutes to go.

Marlon Harewood struck his first goal of the season as Aston Villa booked their place in the group stages of the UEFA Cup despite being held 1-1 at home in the second leg by Litex Lovech.
The former West Ham striker broke the deadlock after 27 minutes only for the visitors to level matters shortly after the break through a controversial penalty from Wilfred Niflore.
But Villa were always in command and progressed 4-2 on aggregate.

Motherwell's first European match at Fir Park for 13 years turned into a huge anti-climax as Nancy scored twice inside the opening quarter for a 2-0 win on the night.
Marc-Antoine Fortune followed up Benjamin Gavonon's free-kick to score in the 18th minute, and the same free-kick taker's intended cross found the net five minutes later to leave Motherwell needing four goals.
Other than a decent spell just after the break, they rarely looked like getting one as they succumbed to a 3-0 aggregate first-round defeat.

Not this years comp but still an interesting UEFA Cup story

Thanks to The Scottish Sun

RANGERS were at the centre of a match-fixing riddle over their UEFA Cup final defeat to Zenit St Petersburg.

Two alleged leaders of a Russian mob were among 13 people nabbed in Spain over claims £32MILLION was paid so Zenit would win the trophy.
Zenit beat the Ibrox side, skippered by Barry Ferguson 2-0 in the final in Manchester in May.
It’s alleged the mob also fixed the Russian side’s 5-1 semi-final aggregate win over German giants Bayern Munich.

A Spanish newspaper claimed cops had launched a probe into the betting scam — after allegedly hearing two Mafia kingpins BOAST about it on an intercepted phone call. UEFA last night vowed to probe the allegations.
Madrid-based daily ABC said Godfather Gennadios Petrov and Leonid Khristoforov were TWICE recorded speaking about the sting. It is unclear how they had allegedly influenced the outcome of the matches.

But another paper El Pais said Judge Baltasar Garzon, Spain’s leading criminal investigator, sent details of the alleged match-fixing to the German State prosecutor. Their sources said Petrov was heard stating he had paid 50million to the German team — but did not clarify if it was in dollars, euros or Russian roubles.
Petrov and Khristoforov were among 13 people, all from the St Petersburg area, arrested by Spanish cops as part of a wide-ranging inquiry into money laundering, drug trafficking, gun-running, prostitution and extortion.

A spokesman for the National Police in Madrid said he could not make any comment about the report of match fixing. UEFA said it was looking to cooperate with the Spanish authorities over the allegations. William Gaillard, director of communications, said last night: “Our disciplinary unit will of course try to get in touch with the Spanish judge and see if he can share some of his information. It depends if Spanish law allows this type of sharing. But we will be looking into this.”

Reports in Spain also claimed police have opened a separate dossier into the alleged match-fixing as a result of the intercepted phone calls. Rangers have declined to comment on the allegations. Bayern Munich also refused to discuss the claims.

Goals by Igor Denisov and Konstantin Zyryanov gave Zenit — led by captain Anatoliy Tymoschuk, victory over Walter Smith’s team in the final.

The rather embarrassing thing about tonights game is that it is Gareth Bale's first win in Spurs colours.

A highlight however is Johnny Bostock, who became the youngest player to ever don a Lillywhite strip in a competitive game. Played well for 15 mins too and went close to scoring.

We won't be propping up the league for long!

First win for Bale?????? That is an amazing stat.

Have you seen the goals DA? Apparently Hudd's goal was a belter, volley from a corner?? I think I read that somewhere. I'm a fan of the bloke, he can certainly hit a ball.
