Since the non penalty it has been all Arsenal. Had three of four great chances to score including Bendnar blocking a clear would be goal bound shot from his own team mate Fabregas.

Good game though. Much better than that crap served up last night

Cracking winning goal to Fenerbache. Dievid scored the own goal for the Turks before hitting a 30+ yard peach of a strike past Cudicini who had dick all chance.

That really wasn't my point stumps. The European game is so sterile IMO, where tackling is now frowned upon and where players go down like a lead balloon everytime they feel the breathe of their opponent on their neck.

Doesn't make for a good spectator sport for me, Football is a contact sport and the way it is refereed on the continent and the playing style is eroding contact as part of the game.

That really wasn't my point stumps. The European game is so sterile IMO, where tackling is now frowned upon and where players go down like a lead balloon everytime they feel the breathe of their opponent on their neck.

Doesn't make for a good spectator sport for me, Football is a contact sport and the way it is refereed on the continent and the playing style is eroding contact as part of the game.

Flamini and Alonso both had about 4-5 warnings each and another ref namely Steve Bennett might've yellow carded them.

Good choice of ref IMo smithy. Came from holland and they have a similar style of play to the EPL. Now if he had been from Spain or Italy, Liverpool would have finished with 9 men and Arsenal would have won 2 - 0, the 2nd coming from a penalty.

To be honest, I would have been suprised if an EPL ref hadn't awarded that

Agree with you lads, clear cut penalty and Le Arse were unlucky ... I'm a pretty nervous supporter but I must admit I didn't feel too worried this morning (other than at the set pieces), kinda looked as though Arsenal are feeling the pinch of a long season, kina like last year when they ran out of steam (now I say this they'll probably blow us away at Anfield).

Would liked to have seen a replay from late in the game when Torres went down in the box from a Reina long ball to see if he had a legitimate penalty claim ... Although even if it was, it wasn't as blatant as Hleb's.

Congrats on the bet Smithy ... I actually remembered that this morning and thought you'll be a pretty happy camper!

Terrible decision by the ref, that was a definite penalty. Bendnter is rubbish as well, I think he was trying to control that ball and score himself, all he had to do was jump.

The second Fener goal was a beauty, 30 yards into the top corner off one step!!

Tonight while on the train on my way home from work I had the greatest phone call of my life. A bloke from Ford called me to let me know I have won an all expenses paid trip for 2 to the Champions League final in Moscow including airfares, accomodation, corporate box with all the bells and whistles.

I seriously can't believe it. Let's hope Liverpool and Man U are there! I should be able to grab some cracking snaps this time!

In London there's a free weekly Sports magazine that gets handed out at the tube stations every Friday. Being the sport nutter I am, combined with the fact I spend 90 mins on the trains/bus to get to work, I always grab one and have a read.
