To late for change unfortunately. Osiek and neill, brecsiano and others who have held on for to long equally to blame. And maybe if some of our up and comers did some hard yards in europe instead of chasing easy money in the middle east. Think Brazil will be an embarrassment

Who are the up and comers chasing money in the Middle East.

Most of the young ones are in small European leagues.

It's the likes of Neill, Carney, Bresciano taking money in Asia and the Middle East who have held onto their spots far to long which has held us back.

Cahill is struggling as well since his move out of a decent league, probably needs to play a role coming on as a sub

Holger has been sacked.
Talks of Guus coming back
Agree about some of the old boys, Neill was a hack when he was young, cant see why we have persisted with him so long.
Holger has blooded plenty of kids but most of them have been in meaningless games and only for limited or brief spells.

don't think changing the manager here is the issue.

there is no decent players In the team, and hasn't been for a while now.

South America

Uruguay beat Argentina in their last group game but still head to the palyoffs due to Ecuador having a better goal difference

Qualifiers were Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Ecuador

Uruguay now face Jordan in a two leg series Nov 13/14 and Nov 20

Uruguay should still progress but stranger things have happened...

North America

Qualifiers were USA, Costa Rica and Honduras

Mexico face New Zealand in a two leg series Nov 13/14 and Nov 20

Surely Mexico will hammer NZ... I can see Honduras being the bunnies this world cup

Europe

group stage has been completed and Qualifiers are Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, England, Russia, Spain and Bosnia-Herzegovina

into the last stage are the 8 best runners up, matches will be played on Nov 15 and Nov 19

these teams are Portugal, Croatia, Iceland, Greece, Sweden, Romania, Ukraine and France

unsure of the match draw dates

Africa

final stages of qualifying, winner of these two leg series go straight through

first leg results

Burkina Faso 3:2 Algeria
Ivory Coast 3:1Senegal
Ethiopia 1:2 Nigeria
Tunisia 0:0 Cameroon
Ghana 6:1 Egypt

second leg matches are between 16-19/11

and then we're done, bring on the cup!

Vamo Arriba La Celeste!!!!

It was a better performance by the Aussies the other night but a decent side still would have punished us a couple of times.

Langeraak HAS to be the number 1 from now on.

Kennedy has to start every time. He is our only out and out number 9, he has that knack of scoring goals even when his not doing a whole lot. He brings others into the game with his strength and the big winner from Kennedy starting will be Tim Cahill. He will then become the second arial threat and will also feed on the sniffs in the box Kennedys arial power will bring. Also against the better nations are our only scoring threat may come from set pieces which is Kennedys specialty.

Really liked Darios' game, he has that touch of quality we lack.

For me our best 11 looking at the future plus an eye to the WC should be

---------------------------Langerak---------------------------------

McGowan----- Ognenovski-----Williams------Davison

---------------------------Jedinak------------------------------------

Kruse------------------------------------------------------------Oar

-------------------Cahill-------------Bresciano-------------------

---------------------------Kennedy----------------------------------

Not sure what it was like on the box but at the game I thought Carney had his best game for us for awhile at least going forward. Hard to judge as apart from their No. 9 they didn't threaten much at all though so he didn't have to push back too much.

Liked Leckie's cameo, certainly seems to have developed his touch in the Bundesliga so would love to see him get a spot on the squad. Looked to be getting into some very promising positions and his goal was quality from a good Carney ball in. Probably could have scored a second but fluffed it a bit.

Quite worried about of defensive options at the moment, a lot of jitters back there and under any sort of real pressure may have come unstuck. Got caught out of position a bit and let them get behind us a couple of times but without the quality ball in it wasn't damaging.

Wouldn't mind us looking to a European manager in the lead up to the WC with a view to spending that time to find a long term replacement that will develop the squad from the ground up. The days of being gifted a game on reputation are over.

Had no luck for tickets in the first random draw and missed out on the first phase of the first in first served tonight... Not easy to get tickets. 6.2M requested in the random draw and only 890k got allocated. They released 220k tickets tonight.

Anyone on here had any luck?

My brother got allocated 2x tickets to Australia's 3 group games, only for Bank SA to deem FIFA's charge to be dodgy, block it and we lost the tickets, absolutely fuming.

First come first served sales phase this morning was an absolute farce, I was in the queue 5 minutes before the start time, I'd been refreshing the page so I know for a fact people we're not able to join the queue any more than 60 seconds before me, yet I waited over 2 hours before I eventually gave up, reading various internet forums it's seems quite clear that there was no actual queue and many people were able to skip straight in by refreshing their page, which is against what FIFA said to do.

Spewing about losing out on the tickets...
I logged on about 9:24 last night and got straight into a queue, it advised not to refresh the page so i left it and got in at about 11pm, was only allowing me to get Cat 1 (which is what i wanted) and was saying low availability. I tried about 6 or 7 times to get 4xAustralia's 3 group games but kept coming back saying temporarily unavailable, come back and try again and eventually it said none available :(
I best get tickets, have already booked my flights to that side of the world

You will get tickets.
We got all our tickets in Germany from scalpers on the day of the games. Each countries Federation is given a certain ammount of tickets to the games and they flog them off at the ground. A group of us got 12 tickets to Aus v Japan for €160 each from Portuguese officials and scalpers at the Aus v Croatia game had them for €75 each, Brazil game was even easy, they wanted €250 a pop for them though

I think our best bet to get tickets is after the draw has been completed and we know which stadiums we wil play at... They are yet to release the 8% of the stadium size ticekts to each nation and will do so when they know who is playing where... If not we will just have to scalp them

Jordan 0 - 5 Uruguay

no Suarez on the scorer sheet

second leg to be played in Montevideo on the 20th, will be a massacre i'd say!

Watched it with a Kiwi mate who was pretty pissed off with their performance. Definitely missed Reid marshalling them down back, the last line seemed to not communicate at all.

Seemed very negative from the outset and were happy to sit back and concede possession early which was never going to work. When they actually brought on Rojas and James they started knock it around and test out the Mexicans. Unfortunately too little too late I think.

Interesting that the Mexican coach decided he didn't need his European based players and said they we a bit cancerous in the earlier qualifiers.
